The space bar is the long thin key on bottom of keyboard. when you type in a secure password its normal for it to show dots. this is done so a person cant stand close to you and see your password, so a space would show up as a dot like a letter would when you type in a pasword

Space bar keeps going but not pressed

might be dirty, get a can of air, from like home depot, office max, etc. turn off laptop, take out battery, turn upside down and blow the air underneath the spacebar, this should fix your problem. If not you need a new space bar.

Bios password on toshiba

Some Toshiba laptops come with a system BIOS password, making anyone without the password unable to get past the BIOS screen at system startup. This is a strong security measure, as it renders a stolen computer useless unless the password is known. If you have a Toshiba laptop and want to change the BIOS password, you can quickly do it.

1. Power on the computer while holding down the "Esc" key. Enter your current password when prompted and press "Enter."
2. Press "F1" to enter the BIOS setup menu. Highlight "REGISTERED" with the arrow keys and press the space bar. Enter your password and press "Enter."
3. Restart the computer while holding "Esc" and hit "F1" again to enter the BIOS menu. Highlight "NOT REGISTERED" with the arrow keys and press the space bar. Enter your new password and press "Enter." Type the password again for verification and hit "Enter." Press "End" to save the changes, and "Y" to exit.

I hope you find it very helpful. Best regards.

How i can change pasowrd on linksys_G wirless

You need to access first the router's setup page ( 192.168.1.1 ). Default username should be left black and default password is admin. Once logged in, click on the administration tab on the black bar on top of the page. Now you will be on the Management page and this is where you can change the password. First line would indicate Router password. By default , you will see lots of dots on the field. Just delete all of the dots and type in your preferred password. Retype the new password. Scroll down to the bottom ,click on save settings. Hit continue. Restart your router and try logging in with your new password.

I'm trying to find the password for my wireless internet to hook up a new laptop?

  • Open internet explorer on the working computer or connect the ethernet cable to the new laptop
  • Any webbrowser will do,
  • delete the webaddress from the top bar and type
  • 192.168.1.254
  • Hit enter, Type admin for both username and password.
  • Ok to login
  • On the top of the page click wireless
  • Then subheading choose wireless security
  • Find passphrase on that page
  • this is the wireless password you need, if you cannot see this password or it is blanked with dots, you will need to type in a new password of your choice and click apply
  • If you can see the password, just the page and type it as the wireless key on the new laptop
  • If you change it you will have to reconnect your working computer with the new password you created

Any problems get back to me. Hope this helps

Fix a security problem

Hello.

To make your wireless connection secure, you have to change the security settings of the wireless connection in your wireless router, not your laptop. Most wireless routers have a "Web Console", basically a web page to set up the router. Make sure you have a network cable handy incase things go wrong, and if possible, your router manual.

To connect to the router, you need the IP Address of the router. To find this, go to your start button, go into "Run...", (for vista click the start search box) then type "CMD" and press Enter.

A black window will come up. In there type "ipconfig" and press enter. It will list your Network connection details. The one you are interested in is "Default Gateway", under "Wireless LAN Adapter", note this IP address. It's usually something like 192.168.0.1, or 10.0.0.1, but can be a variation on that theme.

Onceyou have the IP address, close this window, and then open Internet Explorer, or Firefox if that's your preference. in the address bar, where you type web addresses, type in the IP address noted earlier. All being well, you will either be prompted for a password, or be taken to the main screen of the router where you can log in. The manual for the router should have the login name and password, usually "Admin" for the username" and "password" for the password. If you dont have the manual, and the above name and password doesn't get you in, Google your router model, and put password in the end of the search IE "Netgear DG834G password" and you should be able to find the default for your model.

Once Logged in, you need to feel your way about the settings, as its very router dependant, but you basically are looking for the wireless security settings. You want to enable WPA and give it a password, then apply. Once you do this, you will loose your network connection. On your windows laptop, you want to go to your wireless connection, disconnect if it still shows connected, then look for your network, you'll know your SSID, its the name that came up with unsecured next to it. Click it, then click connect, and all being well, it should ask for a password. Enter the password you put in the router for WPA, you will need to enter it twice. t should then connect after a minute or so, and you now have a secure connection!.

If this goes wrong, you will need to connect your PC to the router using the network cable, and go into the web console again, ang check the password, and security settings in the router, that way you won't be stuck if it doesn't work, You can always turn security off, or try WEP encryption. It's not as secure, but better than unsecured.

I hope this helps, If you need more help Email me at LateLesley at Yahoo dot co dot uk (Spaced out to avoid spam crawlers, just add the @, dots and take out the spaces :-) )
