Question about Maytag 24 in. MDB5600A Jetclean II Built-in Dishwasher

Dishwasher Problem Today, my dishwasher made a single load popping noise then quite working all together. I checked the breaker and let it cool down, tried re-energizing it and it's seems as if it isn't getting power. I check with a voltmeter and there is power at the terminals but nothing works. As an additional note, I checked the door switches, continuity is good through both of them, unless I'm missing a parallel leg somewhere. I also check the motor overload protector, got a good reading through it and the windings of the motor (i.e some resistance, not opened or shorted). I'm hesitant to start disassembling the door panel and start looking in there, it's probably a circuit board in there that I couldn't repair anyway. Sure could use a bit of help here

Ok, if this happens to anyone else, you'll need to take off the panel on the back of the door and check the the circuit board. I found a blown capacitor and will have to see if I can order a new circuit board. Not a terribly bad troubleshooting problem.

Whirlpool Dishwasher starts for 5 sec. then quits for hours. reset breaker and it will not start again for 5 sec

Most likely a fault (short circuit or ground fault ) within the heating elements of the dishwasher. Although the house circuit breaker will reset within a minute or so (manually of course) the built in protective devices will take more time to cool down.

There is a loud noise while going through final stages of wash. Sounds like pump motor whineing.

When an appliance such as a dishwasher starts making a new noise, you need to isolate the cause of the noise so that you know whether or not it is damaging the machine. Several things can cause a noisy dishwasher.

Dishwashers are driven by an internal motor that gets quite noisy when defective. The problem occurs when a seal breaks down and allows water to access the bearings in the motor, removing the grease needed for proper lubrication and creating a loud motor noise when the dishwasher runs. The seal or bearings need to be replaced in this situation quickly or more extensive damage to the motor may occur.

Inlet Valve

If the inlet valve on your dishwasher is broken or breaking, you will hear a distinctive thumping or clattering noise whenever a load is run. A thumping noise doesn't always indicate this problem, however, depending on when you hear it. If you hear a noise like this when the water is filling up the dishwasher at the start of the cycle, the noise likely points to an inlet valve problem.

A high-pitched squealing noise is an indication that something is wrong with the fan. Fan bearings that are worn out indicate that the fan apparatus needs to be replaced. If the noise you're hearing is in fact coming from the fan, it will only occur when the dishwasher is drying the dishes. Dishwashers use a fan to generate and distribute heat to dry the dishes quickly.

Minor Concerns

Sometimes even a minor concern can cause a great deal of noise. The thing to watch for is whether or not the noise repeats itself on multiple loads. A loud noise on a single load that doesn't repeat could be caused by things like a loose utensil or small implement rattling around loose in the dishwasher. Also inspect the bottom of your dishwasher. Hardened bits of old food can become rock hard under the heat in the dishwasher and cause noise when the unit runs.

Mybosch dishwasher quit today halfway though its cycle, it wont drain the water and there is no power, no lights work, the cylce countdown gadge does not light up, there is absulutly no power, i alread...

Hi, Welcome to Fixya,
Based on your description, "does not light up, there is absulutly no power, i alread reset the breaker and that did not solve the problem" it sounds like a burnt connection in the junction box.

**I would start by first shutting off the first**

Then removing the kick plate ( access panel at the bottom ) and checking the wiring at the junction box for the dishwasher 120vac supply line. i.e. macmarkus_12.jpg then observe here...remove the connectors a visually inspect the may in fact be obvious before removing the connectors. macmarkus_13.jpg This is actually quite common to find a wire connector come loose due to improper fastening and once the unit is in use for a while the connections heat & cool, become loose from normal operating vibrations and burn up from all the added heat caused by "resistance".

The end result is no power to the controls. Check it out and post back what you find.

Thanks for visiting "fixya" and please take a moment to rate the solution/suggestion provided here for you. Good luck.

Whirlpool 665-13442K901 dishwasher electrical plug in shorts out

You reversed the black and white wires on what? Don't ever do that. One is the line and one is common. They are polarized for a reason.
Immediately stop using that outlet before you burn your house down. Switch the breaker off to that power circuit, then have a qualified electrician check it out.

No power to dishwasher

Do the following:
  1. Check the power from the wall outlet or the branch circuit itself.
  2. Check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.
  3. Check the wiring connections of the dishwasher from the house wiring.
  4. Check the door switch. Remove the control panel cover or the interior liner of the door whenever it is applicable. Replace if defective.
  5. Check the timer or selector switch. replace if defective.

Washer stopped mid-cycle, water in the bottom of the tub. Circuit breaker popped due to over-load. Reset breaker and it immediately popped again. Could this be cause by a jam in the grinder assembly?

My dishwasher just quit mid cycle. (still has water in it) It is a whirlpool partner 1. I checked the breaker and it wasn't tripped... but i reset it anyways. When I tried the dishwasher again it worked for a second and turned off. I have done reading about the thermo fuse but can't find it. Not sure how big of a problem this is.
Dishwasher is 5 years old.

Stopped Working

MW, sounds like something blew on the board. I assume you do not have any lights lit on the dishwasher. Try the manual test mode by pressing the heavy wash key five times followed by the start key. If no results, remove the inner door and check for power between st-3 and st-11 on the board. Should have 120V with the door switches closed. If you have the voltage there and the control doesn't work, then it's the board. If you do not have voltage there, it's a power issue. Start with the door switches and work back to the cord terminal. There should be a tech sheet behind the toe panel that can help. back.
