Why is my VAX 121 blowing my fusebox ?

"Blowing" FusesWhen a fuse blows, replace it with an identical [same Amperage rating] new fuse.

IF the replacement fuse also blows, then that is an indication that there is either a short circuit condition in that circuit, OR you have an overload condition due to too many electricity using devices connected to that circuit, or one that draws too much electrical current [current is measured in Amperes (Amps), or milliamps (thousandths of an Amp)].

The fix" for repeatedly blowing fuses is to troubleshoot the circuit involved, find and identify the fault, properly repair it, and then install another good fuse

Keep power on and power off

There is a short circuit [overload] at the main board. Contact any service technician. Products powered by electricity should be serviced or repaired only by experienced professional technicians. Any attempt to service or repair the product by anyone else could result in serious injury or death. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock. Instead, contact the nearest service center.

Dryer has power wont start

Hello Dom - Being that you have narrow down some possibilities, here are a few simple troubleshooting tips that may help you get to the root cause:

1. Make sure the dryer is plugged into outlet, and plugged in correctly.

2. Is house fuse blown or circuit breaker tripped? Replace fuse or re-set circuit breaker.
3. Make sure that electrical circuit is not overloaded and correct. The dryer must be on a circuit by itself. Overloaded circuits can damage the dryer and possibly cause damage to home. I would recommend reaching out to a Licensed Electrician check to make sure it is on a circuit by itself.

4. Thermal limiter tripped or an internal problem with the dryer. A thermal limiter automatically turns off the motor (electric dryers only) in the unlikely event of an overheated situation.A service technician must replace the thermal limiter after correcting the fault.

If these assessment measures prove to be ineffective, I would strongly suggest contacting an authorized service technician who would be better able to assist you in the diagnosis and repair of your unit. You can often locate an experienced technician in your area by going to the manufacturer website.

Hi Just wondering if you could tell me some troubleshooting ideas for an Amana air conditioner--it seems to be getting power--we are hearing a noise coming from the unit indicating that it is getting...

Every air conditioner has a motor called a compressor. The compressor provides the cooling capacity for the air conditioner. If the compressor or its electrical controls are defective the compressor may try to start, fail, and create an electrical overload. If the unit does create an overload, every compressor circuit is also equipped with an overload safety switch. The safety switch is designed to protect the compressor from burning out. The safety switch will cut the power to the compressor for a certain length of time and then reset itself. When it resets it will allow the electricity to flow to the compressor once again. If the compressor then starts, the unit should function normally. If the compressor doesn't start when the overload resets, the overload will again cut the electricity to the compressor. This cycle will continue indefinitely. (Always allow three to five minutes before restarting the compressor.) If this situation is occurring, unplug the air conditioner and get help from a qualified repair technician. This problem is often fatal to the air conditioner because the cost of repair often exceeds the price of a new air conditioner.

To start a compressor you need a start contactor - relay and a capacitor. The click you hear could be from the contactor, which could be normal OR could mean that the contacts are not staying closed which would not allow the compressor to start.

Hi, Our Indian made Preethi Eco Chef mixer had stopped working after pressing the overload button repeatedly, any idea whether any repair centers in and around Ipswich

Hi, please replace the Overload button (Circuit Breaker) with a new one. You can purchase the Overload protector (Circuit breaker) in any nearby Mixer repair or Electrical shop. Please take the old Overload protector to get the new one of same specification which suits for your Mixer.

AVR-789 powers down with red flashing light

This is an indication that there is an overload problem in the output section of the amplifier. The overload could be thermal or electrical The overload circuit has built-in protection to help keep the amp from burning itself out. disconnect all speakers and cables from the unit and power it up. If the problem still exists, it is internal and will need to be repaired bya professional technician. If the problem goes away, check for shorted, crossed wires to your external speakers. Try different wires and speakers.
Hope this helps.
