OS - operating system ...

u boot the system with u're windows xp cd (check that the bios settins specify that the first boot device is the cd-rom). And then at one of the installing steps u will be asked where to install the OS (on what partition). Give it the same partition on witch u have the xp installed now (C usually, so it's the first partition). When it will ask u aboaut formating the partition, select: leave the partion intact(or something like this)...

u should also have: a try reparing option before this... u can try it also ... but in my experince is **** ...

i hope u understand ...

by the way, whan u are fed up with windows u can try linux ! Infinitly more stable and no worries for viruses and **** ....

I have HP Compaq 6710b, Some days it got restarted and then never came through in OS (XP). After POST the screen got blank and nothing happened. I reinstalled my OS by using Repairing Options. Now when...

The hard disk got damaged and it's dying - the boot take longer because the boot sector was damaged and it had to be relocated.
Create a reinstall disk with the utility HP has installed in the laptop, buy a new hard disk and install it and then reinstall Windows with the disk you created.

Cd rom driver

Hi,
in most cases your CD-Rom drive won't need any external driver, because they are embedded in the OS. In case you are experiencing problem with your optical drive, just try to remove and then reinstall it from windows' hardware managment software.
Hope it helped,
Franz

The command prompt does not come up. Ive got a Avertec 6100 that doesnt boot. It give me a screen that asks me to: SAFE MODE SAFE MODE W/ NETWORKING SAFE MODE W/ COMMAND PROMPT LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIG START...

You are experiencing either a memory issue or OS problem.

First, remove all your memory modules and insert one at a time to test.

If still a problem, try Windows Repair.

If necessary, reinstall Windows.

Hope this helps.

Booting up windows, now receiving "HID DATA has stopped working" msg respond "check online and close program" message box goes away and laptop seems to work fine anything to worry about? OS: windows...

Hi. HiD Data is basically a control driver base located in the system 32 file bank. these drivers control mouse, game controllers and keyboard functions as well. Usually when this message box comes up, it is signaling a sudden change that may have occurred during a failed boot session or, sudden changes in the windows system 32 file base. these sudden changes can happen when there is a windows update that isn't quite compatible with the current version of one or more of the HID driver components or, if the OS has experienced a virus hit or , malware.

This may not be an issue at this time but, if the message box frequency level increases, i would recommend reinstalling the OS by using the repair option or, the restore feature.

When i on my laptop the log on window start over

hi

i think there is a problem with the operating system

if it is windows and you have the operating system CD then set the bios settings to detect the CD drive as first boot device

insert the windows CD and let it go to the setup area

the first time it asks for the repair or setup select setup
next after it checks for existing windows setup OS and prompts for new setup or repair select Repair - R

this will reinstall all the windows OS again keeping all the existing settings as they are

hope this helped
cheers

pls rate the solution

A buffer overrun error is a somewhat generic error in the sense that buffer overruns can occur in the OS, OS subsystems or any application that you may be running. So what you have posted here does not necessarily tell me where the issue lies. Here's a progressive approach to solving the issue.

Buffer overruns are runtime errors in the program code. They occur when a program attempts to write more information to a particular "array" than is allowed or expected. MS Windows has a number of security patches specifically designed to fix these loopholes in their OS. So to start with, I strongly suggest visiting the Windows Update site and patching your Windows operating system until the website tells you that there a no updates available. Sometimes you will have to go through the process a few times before all the updates are successfully applied.

Next visit the Microsoft Office update site (office.microsoft.com/officeupdate). There is also a link to it on the Windows Update page. Update your Office application in the same manner. Once that's done if you are still experiencing the problem, you'll want to launch the installer for MS Office from your disk and attempt a repair.

If that fails, perform an uninstall of MS Office, then manually delete the Winword.exe file from your PC and reinstall the software from scratch.

This progressive approach should fix whatever the issue is.

Good luck!

File Damaged

Hi, Try fixing it using your BootCD. Use Scandisk to fix the error if it persist. Reinstall your Windows.
