Question about Samsung CLP 300 Laser Printer

Pring quality on Samsung CLP-300 colour laser

On black only printing I'm having trouble with poor quality printing. I'm getting bands of black on the left side of the page. Been going on for a month or more now, just changed to a new black cartridge (factory not refilled) and same problem persists.

Any ideas?

    The printer is only about 6 months old. It definitely shouldn't need a drum kit. If it does, it's going back to the retailer as unacceptable product.

    Looking for a solution here too. Colour printing is fine but black has gone very patchy. (i.e. too little toner being put down). Still on first black cartridge so I changed this but it makes no difference. I've also tried settings in driver "best quality" and print text darker with no noticable effect.

    My toner guy say's it's likely the drum on this machine, and the retailer says the drum is built in to the machine so the whole machine would need to be replaced. So it looks like a replacement or upgrade to a better brand than this.

    I have the same problem. I installed a "will fit" black cartridge and it was disasterous so purchased a genuine at AUS $107 and it is a little better but not much. Would appreciate a look at the document too please. How do we get to see that.

    Slamfix I have the same problem and will have a go at cleaning the blades if you can supply the instructions. Can you post them here?

    Sorry forgot to mention that the 20,000 poages is at 5% coverage. About a little less then a windows test page generates. If you are printing graphic intensive documents it will be less.

    It shows that those Drums are rated for 20000 pages. So it really depends on your usage. If it is onl;y 6 months old it should be under warranty. Have you called Samsung? They should replace it under warranty.

    Have you tried replacing the drum kit? How many pages do you have on your machine and how many has it been since your last drum kit installation?

If you the image is faded and your toner supply is good, the problem is the developer blades in the imaging unit. During the normal use of the printer, there is a buildup of toner that sticks on the developer blade. The developer blade meters the amount of toner that gets to the drum that ultimately makes it to the paper. As the toner buildup increases on the blade, less and less toner that gets to the drum cause the image to fade.

To fix this problem you will need to disassemble the imaging unit and clean the blades or buy a new imaging unit. I have clean my blades and I don't have 20000 images it is about 7000 and I have a document to show you if you are handy.

    If your printer looks like this:


    Then you need to clean the developer blades. In the image above it is the black blade that need to be cleaned. If there are streaking on any other color, then then also needs to be cleaned.



    To clean the developer blades, look to this link. http://losingambition.com/clp300imagefix... It describes how to clean them. It only takes a few minutes to do once you get the developers out of the unit. Just be careful when you clean the edge of the blades. You need to make sure that the residue is completely removed from the edge. Also be sure that when you reinstall the blade that the little foam does not get trapped below the blade.Otherwise when you print the side where the blade is not properly installed will have too much color.



    If you are afraid of messing your printer up, then you need to buy a new imaging unit. They go around $100.

Both the faint printing on the left hand side of the page and the paperfeed problems appear to be inherent in the CLP300.
I called Samsung Support UK 0845 726 7864 and they sent an engineer (I was still under warranty). The black toner feed/distribution unit was changed as was the rubber roller for the paper feed.
If you are not under warranty, call Samsung and arrange a support number. Get the support company to call you and I'm sure they will give you a quote for the cost of the callout.

Black Printing is very pale and "Stripey" despite


If your printer prints with faint vertical banding like this:

slamfix_36.jpg The problem is with the developer in the imaging unit. The problem can be fixed by either replacing the imaging unit for $100+ or you can fix it yourself by cleaning the imaging unit. You will need simple hand tools and if you are careful restore the print quality of your printer. Print quality with black ink is poor throughout the page


hi, i have one of these to, mine is still running on the "test" inks as well but i have all colours in mine, anyway i digress, you can try, going to print something , when the chose printer box apears, choose cpl300 then choose properties ( to the right ) then choose graphics thumbnail, on quality choose best, then at the bottom you will see advanced options, then just click print all txt black, and click darken txt, and that should give you nice black txt....hope this helps

Poor quality prints ( even in black ) Brand new toner cartridge Have tried different qualities of paper


I am a computer dealer in Perth and had to replace 5 of these printers out of my pocket. There is no fix and Samsung was very unfair and refused to replace these shoddy printers. Colour printed fine but black is faded.
It makes no difference if original toners or compatible ones are in use.
Samsung is very unprofessional in refusing to replace these printers with an inherent design fault.

may be your new toner can be faulty.you can try this processor first you remove the toner & refix it after shaking.if your problem is not solved then check with new toner again.

Poor quality black output


There is a defect in the Imaging Unit of these printers....if you replace the imaging unit, the problem of the faded black prints go away. If you have less than 7000 prints, you can call Samsung for a warrantied replacement. The Imaging Unit is supposed to last at least 20,000 prints.

Not printing correctly across the whole page


ok....once just completely remove the toner and its mechanisms and clean then with iso-profile alcohol and re assemble them after the reassembling
