Medion MIM2120, after any amount of time (10mins to 1hr) the screen goes very dark and is very hard to see, am I right in thinking that the invertor for the screen is on its way out?
Shure 'nuff. Sounds like either the inverter or backlight. I would go for the inverter as that seems to be the more common item to fail, it usually is cheaper than the backlight, and easier to replace.
If you need to directed to an online maint manual, let me know.

Glad to have been able to help.

Huh! I just downloaded it a few minutes ago and it only took a minute or less. You might back out and retry. If you can't get it to download, get back to me. We'll figure out something.

The easiest way to replace the backlight is to replace the LCD display. But this is by far the most expensive way. Even a used unit is not that cheap. But that's the way that I do it. The LCD assembly on most IBMs can be disassembled and the actual lamp replaced, but it appears to be not all that easy. I say appears because I've not had a chance to do it. I've offered, but people think that it will cost more that it's worth.Wish I could help more.

Hi Ron, got the manual, and have replaced the invertor, still getting the same problems so I think the backlight is on its way out, are these easy to replace and where could I get one?
