i recently went to start up my laptop and at first it started fine with fan working ect. but is it entered the screen with the windowsXP badge and loading bar as the loading bar reached half way on the first run it stops cuts off from the windows screen with a blue screen with white wrighting flashing up for a second then going off ans then it shows a black screen with white wrighting with the messege:
we apologize for the inconvenience, but windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.
if your computer stopped responding ,restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose last known good configeration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.
if a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power falure or because the power or restart button was pressed, or if you arent sure what caused the problem choose start windows normally.
safe mode with networking
safemode with command prompt
last known good configuration ( your most recent settings that worked)
start windows normally.
i have tried to start the laptop using each of these setting firstly bu the advised ones then by trying with safe mode but it does the same thing tries to load and then stops on the windows screen again and reverts back to this screen again
what should i do? does anybody know what has happend and how to fix it? and has this happend to anybody before?

Tips for a great answer:
I have a similar problem:
I have a Compaq Presario SR2010NX desktop computer. Recently, very occasionally, the computer would freeze and the screen would scramble. It almost looks like someone chopped up the picture on the screen. Then we would have to manually shut down the computer and restart. It would always work fine afterwards.
Yesterday the computer did it again. It restarted fine but when my boyfriend tried to install a new mouse the computer froze again and the screen went scrambled. Well this time it did not start back up. I tried to unplug the computer from the wall and restart but that got me to the COMPAQ screen and then the computer froze again and the word compaq was doubled all the way down the screen. We continued to try to start it in PC recovery but it would get the the program and freeze. I actually got it to run once but I couldn't see what it was doing because the screen was scrambled.
Now we have restarted it so many times that it will start up, light turns green, and stays green. The computer sounds like its starting up and it seems louder than normal. The computer doesn't do anything and the screen is black. The lights on the keyboard do not turn on but the light in the mouse does. The CD drive will light up and run as well but nothing happens after that. I can't see the cursor and the keyboard does not work.
I opened the computer up, cleaned the dust off, tried to re-install my old RAM and that did not work either. I disconnected the CD drive but that did not work. Tried to start the computer with nothing plugged in except mouse, keyboard and monitor and that did not work.
I don't know what to do! Help!
