Tips for a great answer:
Memory cards, also called memory sticks or MS cards, can create problems with a computer. Sometimes, a computer will not read the card or errors cause problems when removing files from the card to put them onto the computer.
Problems range from a virus on the memory card to inappropriate software on the computer. Fixing the problem partly depends on the cause of the problem, but making the card work is simple and takes only a few minutes.
Scan for viruses. Some viruses or worms infect MS cards.
A computer that suspects a virus might interfere with the memory card as a result.
Look for viruses or problems with the anti-virus software that won't allow the memory card to open. If a virus if found, remove the virus through the anti-virus software before opening the memory card.
Check that the computer has the appropriate software installed to read the card.
Some MS cards or memory sticks might require more updated software or specific software that is not on the computer.
If the software is installed, look for current updates and download any updates to determine if the problem is old software.
Open the control panel.
Click on "Add New Hardware" and see if it is available.
If the hardware for the memory card is not installed on the computer, this will allow installation.
Once installed, the card should read.
If the memory card is not showing up, the problem is often damage to the card, which prevents reading the card. If the card is damaged, it must be replaced.
Use an adapter.
Some memory cards are not designed for reading in a computer directly and require the appropriate adapter.
The adapter changes the data to the appropriate system for the computer to read it.
Hope this helps
