What you have is a broken belt. to get to the inside yank out the filter first.Remove the 2 screws in the filter housing on top. Then use a putty knife to pop the top. Remove the screws holding the front panel on. VERY IMPORTANT! Raise the front up an inch before pulling forward or the panel clips will break! Some models have a panel on bottom. If they do then this panel must come off first. Then you remove the door springs and back off the screws holding down the bottom of the door panel. Then pop the top and remove the screws on top to get the panel out of your way. Your belt routing will be the lower right bottom picture My dryer is heating up but won't spin - b1563d7.gif

Haier dryer makes ticking noise

The ticking noise could be either a piece of the belt hitting as it spins around, it could be something stuck in the drum that is hitting it as it turns too, or it could be the electric motor making the noise. Either way it sounds like you may need to tear it apart to see what's going on.

Whirlpool dryer won't spin

Most dyers after you pull the top up, the front should just lift a little and it should come loose, sounds like you may have the belt intact, but the motor is not conected to the belt.

If you have kids and they over fill the dryer it strains all systems including the heater because it cannot get rid of excess heat. Solution*** Possibly needs a new belt

The dryer makes a new noise now when the drum is turning. It is a steady "tick -- tick -- tick -- tick --etc" which is laid over the normal sounds of the motor, the turning drum, and the...

You have done a good job of isolating the noise. Sounds like you will have to replace your drive motor. Very likely a mechanical problem in your motor, that is not going to fix itself. If you continue to run your dryer with the noise coming from your motor, you run the risk of the motor burning out electrically and causing a fire or a shock hazard. It is unlikely that this will happen, but it is possible and thereby not worth the risk of getting shocked or having a fire. The Whirlpool Duet Dryer is the best dryer built, so it is worth replacing the motor. Good luck, Appliance Specialists
