they are all long beeps. they continue till i shutdown. the beeps last about 2 seconds each

sorry, umm memory board? the ram? I took the whole computer apart and put it together again. I tried putting in a new video card to see if the video card was the problem. no video still and still has beeps.

How is the beep sounds? Long beep and three short beep or one (-...) or all long beep?
For the first, usualy the VGA connector is not correctly seated, so the motherboard can say it has no output device and beeping.
The last is usually memory problem. Try, unplug your memory board and replug it again, make sure that it is correctly seated.

I'll check your board documentation, there might be some useful information.

BTW, last time I got similar problem, I return the board to the distributor and got replacement. Might worth to try, if your warranty still available.

SOURCE: I've AMD Athlon 64 bit

you must plug in your pc with ups

do step by step from internet and alwayas choice last date
http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments_content.aspx?no=714

for download =http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Asus-K8S-MX-Bios-1013-Download-13287.html

1st thing you'll need to do is go to the motherboard manufacturer's website & download the new BIOS file & the flashing program. These 2 files will have to be copied to a bootable floppy, then you'll have to boot off it & do the update from DOS. The motherboard website should have a detailed explanation on how to perform a flash...print out the instructions & follow them exactly & you should have no problem

What does code 7f mean on kv8 pro

Did you ever resolve?

This is the board with the external OC monitoring panel, right?! I owned this, too. I had a similar KV8 board from Soltek, as well--post codes, also. My Abit died several years ago.

The ABit's manual still exists online. According to the code, It's hanging on the onscreen logo--it says to switch to text. Here's the page describing your code: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/615/Abit-Amd-Athlon-Kv8-Pro.html?page=69#manual

If I remember correctly, that's not a serious error code--popped up often after new installs.

If it's a hard drive error--do you have the master/slave configuration jumpers correct? (Hard drive vs. Optical drive? Probably, you want the hard drive as master--optical as slave)

Is cable orientation (Pin 1--from PATA cable and at drive(s)/board) correct? Perhaps I remember now--maybe the BIOS can't get to the hard drive and OS.

Is your floppy light always illuminated (it shouldn't be)--is that cable installed correctly?

If your onboard hdd controller is dead--and, you worked with AGP over the years--you likely have a PCI card that will take its place. (If not, you may purchase that pretty easily. still.) Syba, Siig, Sabrent, StarTech, etc.

If your controller is OK, have you tried running a live i386 (32-bit) or AMD 64(64-bit) Linux disk or an old Bios upgrade/DOS floppy--to see if you get some type of OS posts? Is your proc 64-bit or 32-bit?: If I remember correctly, 754 CPUs generally were 64-bit--some were 32-bit, though (I still own one of those, too).

Did you clear your CMOS first (move the jumper for a few seconds and back)? Is the jumper correctly installed now?

Ah, the days of socket 754 (I never obtained Socket 939.....) Socket 754 still is a good value--you may obtain such a proc for about $5 on Ebay. (Used boards are a little pricey--considering.) I get the sense that 754 was the business board--939 was the gamer board.

Recently, I resurrected my old Shuttle Athlon XP board--considering its age, it holds up pretty well. Works fine with 32-bit Linux Debian distros. Dual-channel. Great OC board in its day. Currently, I have a 9800XL card in--soon, I'll put in a 3850 AGP....

I am using ASUS K8VMX motherboard with AMD Athlon 64 2800+ motherboard. Now my motherboard has gone bad. I want to change it. Suggest which motherboard should i use (754 socket)

Whatever board that is in a microATX format and has a 754 socket will do - they all had the same general hardware characteristics and requirements - so get the cheapest you can find.

I have an Abit NF8 series motherboard and am using a amd 3200 --- I am wondering if I can but in a bigger processor as I am running 2.2 ghz and I need 2.6 for a game I would like to play. Is it...

You can put in bigger processor, Any AMD Athlon or Sempron will do.

If you are planning to run big games, then I suggest you get

- A new motherboard with PCI Express 2.0 support
- A new processor
- A new graphics card (maybe 512 MB or 1 GB) with DirectX 11 hardware support and Shader Model 5

You may make that DirectX 10 or 10.1 and Shader 4 if you want to reduce cost.

I am using amd sempron LE-1100 i want to upgrade to a gaming pc so that i can play the sims3. so if i like to upgrade to amd athlon x2 how to know my socket type. please help

Your socket is AM2. You can put any AMD processor that has AM2. If the processor is AM3 just upgrade the bios of your motherboard and it should work. If you need further assistance, just leave a comment. Cheers

How do i reformat amd semphron?

Sempron is the AMDprocessor targeted to the entry-level market and can be found in two platform versions: socket 462 (a.k.a. socket A), the same motherboard type used by Duron and Athlon XP, and socket 754, the same motherboard type used by some Athlon 64 processors.
If you are talking about reformatting the hard drive an a machine with this processor, make sure you have to original  install disk including the windows disk or the reinstall disk for that name brand computer. Igf you have everythingh you may go to the HD prompt, usually "C" and click on formatt.  DO not do this unless you have al the software you need as it wil clean the whole hard drive. After reformatting reinstall everything. The Sempron CPU will not be harmed.

So the Socket 478 pinned pentium is not suitable. Advise: Try to exchange it with a new laptop or buy a used laptop for suitabl configuration
