I changed the smoke detectors with brand new ones but it is still chirping. Even if I turn the power off through the circuit breaker and remove the battery it still chirps every 40 seconds.

That can't be are your sure that is the detector that is making the noise .
No power the device can't operate .It chirps to let you know the battery is low even if it is hard wired.
The only thing I can think of that might make it do that is you didn't get the correct breaker and the connection that plugs into the back of the unit is damaged wires or pins are exposed and shorting .Seeing you changed the unit with a new one the chances of both units having the same problem are slim to none.
Check the connector you have to squeeze the sides its a bit tricky to unplug

Chirps come from ceiling not unit

Only the smoke detector will chirp. When they begin chirping it means the battery is very low and needs to be replaced. Replace it and you will find the chirping will stop as it will when the battery is totally dead.

My Kidde Model 1285 keeps chirping even after I changed the batteries, any ideas why?

Be sure you are using a well known brand battery. The store brands, in my my opinion generally are not quite up to par. Try this and see if the chirp will stop. Thanks for asking me.

Had customer with CO detector sounding quick double chirp about every five minutes. What is this?

This is not a beeping smoke detector. It is probably a CO detector that was installed by your alarm company. GE model 240-COE will give a double beep every 5.5 minutes when the device reaches end of life. Call your alarm company to have it replaced.

My electric indoor smoke alarm won't stop pipping every 30 seconds?

Usually indicative of low battery. To locate the device, try using a piece of tape to cover the sound port. You'll know you've found the right one when the sound level changes. Don't know, but I'd bet there's more than one chirping as well.

My kidde AC smoke alarm I12020 chirps at night then come daylight it makes no noise

Most "chirping" is indicative of low batteries. Perhaps your smokes are improperly wired through a light switch? As to locating, try using a piece of tape over the sound port to change the sound; with these problems there are often more than one causing it. Check also to see if you have any CO alarms that were plugged into a switched outlet. Most of these also have battery backup. Good luck!

I have the Firex i4618, after changing the battery it continues to chirp, have tried 2 new Duracell proper model batteries with same result.

Smoke Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (Its not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon Amazon: Amazon com Smoke Alarm. I hope this helped you. Have a nice day

I changed the battery in my smoke alarm and it is still chirping. What can the problem be?

Use a quality battery duracell or energizer. Not ones from the dollar store.

Chirping means low battery.
