You can uninstall Avast! and get a new free copy, or there are a few other good free anti-viruses, especially AVG and Microsoft Security Essentials (What I use).

I need an antivirus software for my sony laptop

There are quite afew good free antivirus programs available. I have used Avast Antivirus and AVG Antivirus. AVG is slightly better but Avast is less of a burden on memory (it also speaks to let you know when the database is updated!)

My antivirus guardian 2010 is not updating since lst few months.... y is it so??

It's not normally for an antivirus to stay few months without updates, you're probably infecteed with a virus which disable the update option.Uninstal your antivirus and reinstall new one,i personally use AVG,is easy to use, very good antivirus and above all is free,if you want it,go here and download it:

Therer are a lot viruses in my computer.how can i remove it?

What you need is a good Antivirus or Antivirus. Its usually very benefiting when you have Antivirus installed in your PC from the first day you start working with a computer especially a computer that is hooked with internet or/and is being used with media that is of an unreliable source and may be infected.
You can try removing viruses from your computer but if the Viruses has occupied heavily certain part of the root partition then the antivirus will not be able to help you and you will have to clean install your OS (Windows or Linux etc). Do not forget to update your Antivirus with latest update.
To start with a good and a Free antivirus you can try AVG before you purchase a complete version of any good Antivirus with full features.
You can download  AVG Antivirus from the following path.

How i can protect my pc from virus.pls help me

To protect your computer system from viruses, you should install an updated anti virus. I recommend you to use full version of avast antivirus or AVG 8. Scan your computer and when viruses are detected, delete those infected files and viruses found from the virus vault. Also manually update it. Don't forget to install only one antivirus on your system. Installing more than one antivirus may clash down your system.

Problem in antivirus

unless there is a problem with the server at AVG it should update no problem, when you click update for the first time you have the option to click file or internet, clicking internet should go to the AVG server. Sometimes it takes a few times to update, but if it continues, uninstal AVG and re install it.
