Yea I have the same camera, and this camera only will works with a maximum 2gb card, because the camera uses fat16 format, and fat 16 will only adreeses up to 2 gb.

new models works with fat32 then they will works with bigger cards.

Why transcent cf 4 gb cart give problem in my fuji s7000

The S7000 is designed to work only with memory cards up to 2GB in size. It's not supposed to work with 4GB cards.

What if a new memory card wont initialize?

Hi

The reason you are having this problem is that the maximum size memory card supported by this camera is 2GB. Any card with a larger capacity - like your 4 GB card - can not be initialised by the camera.

For reference see
http://www.mymemory.co.uk/compatible-memory/Digital_Cameras/Fuji/Fuji+Finepix+S7000+Zoom_Memory_Cards

Hope this helps. Please do remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

Finepix s7000 new 4gb card not initialized fujifilm cf

The S700 as it came from the factory CANNOT use a 4 gig card. You must go to the Fuji USA website and download the firmware update. You will need to have the program that came with the camera installed, and the cable that also came with the camera. Make sure that you have fresh batteries in the camera. Instructions are on the Fuji website along with the download for the firmware. You are actually going to "flash" the firmware in the camera just as if you were doing a BIOS flash in your computer. Personally, I only use smaller cards and remove the pics soon after I take them. A 2 gig card will hold about 150 full rez pics. Get them out of the camera....don't save them forever on the card!

Can't initialize SanDisk Ultra II for S7000

It looks as though the camera cannot support memory as high as 4GB. Capacities above 2.2 GB require that your camera supports "FAT32", and S7000 does not support FAT32.

How big of memory cards will work with the FUJI S7000

The easy answer is..... 2 Gb.

The longer answer entails fat16 vs fat32 abilities, and the posibility of reformatting your card on the computer in an attempt to possibly get the s7000 to recognise it with mixed success. Since the s7000 is fat16, it can recognise only 2Gb of data.

The xD cards max out at 2Gb. CF goes much higher, but only 2Gb will be recognized.

On a related note, if you do continuous shooting or movies and use an xD card, make sure you get the H-type (not M or M+) as this is higher speed and will avoid timing issues. All of the newer CF cards are plenty fast already.

"Card Not Initialized with 4GB CF memory card"

Steve, S700 and S7000 are different beasts.

S7000 is only rated for 1Gb compact flash cards. It apparently works with 2Gb ones but as I and a lot of others have discovered no matter how you tweak around sectors and clusters it won't read the thing.

This is a Fat16 limitation.
