Re: blank area on both sides of screen

If you have it hooked up to a cable box, then you should be abl to change the resolution setting through the cable box remote control, if not call your cable provider to access the menu that does the resolution settings

We just purchased a LG tv #60330 from Sears. It is the floor model. We can't get the remote to work. We only get 1-13 channels. There wasn't a manual with the tv.

Hi, you can check your remote is actually transmitting information using a digital camera or phone camera, switch your camera on as if you are going to take a photo, point your remote at the camera's lens at about 4 to 6 inches away and while viewing the remote on the camrea's screen press a few buttons on your remote, you should see a blinking white light on your camera's screen (Camera's pick up the infra red light) if you don't check your batteries are in the right way and that they are not flat (Try new batteries) then try the camera/remote test again, if you still can't see any blinking light then the remote is likely to be faulty.
If the remote works I.E. you can see a blinking white light, then perhaps Sears provided you with the wrong remote, I have provided a link for the manual so you'll be able to check.

Here's the link for your manual ---> CLICK HERE <---

Hope this helps!

Went to buy a t v at Sears in Minneapolis Mn. and the day before was told that they had a number of this model in stock and the nexted day not any of the stores in the Minneapolis area had any left in...

Sorry Roger, Panasonic wont help you on this one. Its up to Sears to do the right thing. Most Sears locations only got 2 or 3 of thoose sets, it was a advertising peice and the idea is to make you wait untill you just upgrade to a tv they make money on. I would call sears and give them the option to provide a date, or a replacment model at the same cost. If you get no luck with that go to a small family owned store, they will be able to get you good info on if that set is even in production anymore. I checked my suppliers and they have not stocked that set in months but I am near Chicago. Good luck

Picture ratio

Programs that are recorded in 16:9 format appear full screen on a 16:9 TV. A program recorded in a standard 4:3 format will either be stretched to fit the screen or have side bars to fill the screen area. In the case of HD channels, the black side bars are part of the picture which is being broadcasted.

Just purchased a 32" Proscan Tv with DVD player

you need to switch the input from the remote to DVD and then insert the disc label facing to the back of the TV and the Mirror like side facing the fromt of the TV. You can also go to the Proscan website at and download it from there.

Full screen

The black lines are because you are playing the analog 4:3 picture on a newer 16:9 shaped screen. If you don't have the manual, you can get it by going to and search for your tv model listed. The user guide is available in pdf format.

According to page 35, you need the "view mode" button on your remote. You sound like you want it set to "S" for "Stretch".

enjoy your TV,
