Reddy heater 40, I have checked the photo cell it works, however when checking it I found if I shorted the terminals for the photo cell together
at a rate of 2-3 times per second it will run. Do I have a PC board problem?

It sounds like either the photocell or control board is defective and you aren't going to like the solution. There is not much way to troubleshoot the electronic components without DESA's HA1170 diagnostic tool. The new style heaters are akin to the new style cars- Put the new part on and see if it fixes the problem.

But, don't rule out that you have a slight air pump adjustment problem, which is causing the flame to be off-color, which will cause the photocell to shut the heater down. By quickly grounding the photocell terminals, you are merely tricking the system. Watch your knuckles!

Runs than shuts off after a few seconds

Is this a propane or kerosene heater? If it is kerosene, check your fuel, clean your tank and start with fresh fuel. Check your fuel filter/air filters at the back of air pump. Make sure your ignition system is working.

R100 reddy heater, low pressure forced air heater. the heater ignites, motor runs for 30 seconds then shuts down. photo cell good, filters clean, no ignition board, pump pressure unknown.

The R100 is a kerosene heater and the RLP100 is a propane heater so I am not sure when one you have.
If it is kerosene then you may need to check the pump pressure. Also the Safety swith can give you a cut out after 30 seconds.

If the unit is Propane then you could have a bad control board or a flame sensor.

I have a Reddy Heater 70,000BTU without a thermostat. It will flare off and within a few seconds the fire goes out and then the it trips out. After a few tries it won't even flare off. What might be wrong?

hello. Your reddy heater is dirty and needs a good cleaning. Also, here are a few other possible reasons why it won't operate properly. Pressure not adjusted to 5.1 psi, dirty outlet filter, clogged inlet filter, bad or dirty photo cell, defective reset switch, pump going bad, dirty injector nozzle, dirty fuel filter, contaminated fuel. Check yours out and do what you can to address each area of concern. Regards, Joe

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

The heater runs for approx. 7-10 minutes then shuts down

very rarely it's the circut board.most likely it will be the photo cell.does you photo cell have one blue wire and one white wire????or is it two blue wires, they are two differant photo cells.if it's two blue wires you nee to check the air pressure.it's very important.if the pressure is wrong it will not work properly.you need a gauge to check it.

Kerosene heater won't stay lit

check to see if the photo cell is clean.to check it open the side compartment and look for the blue and white wire comming from photo cell,on the reset switch there is a white wire and a blue wire.hook these two wires to gether at the switch and try to refire the unit.if the unit keeps running the photo cell is bad and NEEDS to be changed.if the unit shuts off the safety switch is bad.

Kerosene Portable Forced Air heater comes on, runs awhile

The unit should have a fuel & air filter. Check that both are clear. Inside the burner tube, there will be a photo-cell, if the lense is dirty it will shut the flame off. The photo-cell needs to see the flame. You can carefully and gently, clean the lens with a tissue, soft cloth, or Q-tip. Please let me know how its coming along.
