Remote control assistance

My dog stepped on the remote and somehow "lost" the factory preset code, now the remote doesn't work. The same thing happened a couple of years ago and I was able to get an answer from Best Buy, but of course I didn't write it down and no one there can help me now. They tell me to call Insignia, and they are not only RUDE, but refused to help because it's "out of warrantee." All I need is the remote reset procedure. Can anyone please help?

Re: Remote control assistance

I'am not sure of the procedure to clear the unit i thought it was hold the volume button for 3 minutes... i have the same 23 lcd monitor and remote and it has happened to me several times... the code given to me was 990 and i inscribed it in the back of the remote it seem that insignia is rude to all customers and i will never buy another product with ther name on it... it seems the last time i called best buy you need to ask for tv repair department over 21 inches and just ask for the universal code i believe they gave me a code 999 but it didnt work setup and tv button at same time until the red light coomes on... then 990 i guess is all i have to offer.

Re: Remote control assistance

It shouldn't loose the code for the television it was made for. It will possibly loose the codes for other items such as VCR's,DVD players, amplifiers etc..Try taking the batteries out for 2 minutes allowing the internal capacitors to drain then trying again. Otherwise make sure if towards the top or the bottom of the remote there are buttons to select the function you want to do such as control the TV,VCR,DVD etc. that you press the TV button before pressing the power button. If all that does't work theb time for the dog to purchase you a new remote.

If you wish to buy its original remote control, contact the authorized service centre, or authorized dealer to your device brand. They can either give you a genuine remote control to your device, or can direct you, from where can you purchase a suitable one.
To select a proper universal remote control, you should know about the number of digits to its set-up codes. There are 3 digit, 4 digit, 5 digit, 2 digit and even single digit codes, to some brand devices. After confirming this, check the sites linked here. Both the sites have set-up code list and set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Check which brand remote control has set-up code/s to your device brand, and buy that one according to availability? Brand name of the remote control isn't a matter, but it should have set-up codes in its code list, to the device brand you have.
Please note: Every new universal remote control will have set-up code list, and set-up procedure along with its pack. Never accept a remote control, that hasn't both of this. For more details about the set-up codes, visit the site Check this site too. Universal remote controls are available at most of the electronic spare part selling shops.

What should i do i programmed an all in ione remote to my sharp hdtv and im stuck on analog and cant use the menu button to change it back to cable

You have to check all the setup codes said to Sharp, with your remote control, and should find out, which code is suited to for most of the functions with remote to This is a trial and error method, and might take some time to check all the codes. You should be patient and check all the codes. Otherwise, you should contact the authorized service center for TV, to buy its original remote control, which will have no need to set-it up with any codes. The original remote control will be preset-ted.
If you wish to get more details; check the sites linked here. It has set-up code list & set-up procedure to many popular brand remote controls. Common codes used for devices too are given, in the order of device brand name list in alphabetical order. Do a search by type in the brand name of your device, at its search box, and press "Enter". Or, pull up older posts.

I lost the copy of the codes for my cybertec q-x33e universal remote. i need to program my remote control to my samsung tv. please help.

Here are some codes you can try for Samsung brand TVs:
008, 011, 018, 021, 024, 025, 033, 037, 039, 040, 049, 050, 051, 091, 113, 123, 375, 378

To program the remote:
1. First turn on the television.
2. On the remote, hold down SET until the indicator light turns on.
3. Type in one of the three codes above (I would just try them in order).
4. If the code is accepted, the light will turn off. Press the power button on the remote; if the TV turns off, then the code is correct.

If the TV stays on, repeat steps 2 through 4 until you find a code that works.

Follow these steps to program the remote control.
  1. Turn on the component to be programmed.
  2. On the remote control, press and hold the SET button.
  3. While holding the SET button, press and release the POWER button
  4. Release the SET button.
  5. Press the appropriate component button for the component being set up.
  6. Using the number pad, enter the component's manufacturer code. NOTE: If more than one code number is listed for the manufacturer, repeat the procedure, entering one code at a time until you find one that works.
  7. Press the ENT button.
  8. Point the remote control at the component.
  9. Press the POWER button to verify operation.
  • If a new code number is entered, the code number previously entered will be erased.
  • When the batteries are replaced, the programmed codes may be erased. It may be necessary to reprogram the remote after replacing the batteries.
  • The operation of a combination deck of any kind is not guaranteed.
  • Some product functions may not be able to be controlled by the remote control. Use the remote control provided with the component.
  • If none of the codes listed for the manufacturer work, it may be necessary to try codes listed for other manufacturers or perform a search for the correct code. Consult the Operating Instructions provided with the remote control for steps on searching for the correct code.
  • In some rare cases, you may not be able to operate your non-Sony equipment with the supplied remote control. This is because your equipment may use a code that is not provided with this remote control. In this case, please use the equipment's own remote control.

Our TrueTech TV remote came with a preset factory code that allows us to override our code in case we forget it. Unfortunately, my billiant children have figured out the factory code and are now able to...

You can try these codes 2211 or 3308 if they do not work you will need to reset the unit. You will need to unplug it for 45 minutes that will reset the TV to factory settings. Then the pass codes I provided should work.

Borken remote; universal remote doesn't work!

I have had on order since December 2007 the Akai replacement remote #WIR3500001-EQ01 the Akai TV/DVD combo model #CFTD2011. I called each month for 5 months, being told each time that it was on backorder. A few days ago, I received a letter in the mail stating that this remote is no longer made and is not available.

I too have tried universal remotes without any luck. If anyone has a resolution, it would be greatly appreciated.

Protron dvd-rw lost remote

I have the same problem, and you have two options: (1) Buy a Logitech Harmony remote - they are expensive, but their database probably has the codes. (2) Go to and get the original for $40 or so. Use a learning universal remote to grab the codes, and leave the original remote in a safe place.
