Menu screen stays on. If you get it to go away comes back in a couple of minutes. At times it won't let you move around in menu you choices. Flips back to one command
If you are talking about a continuing display of features and menus, press the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons at the same time to shut off that display.
If the problem is that the set acts like you are pressing the front panel button and random things happen, there may be bad switches. Sometimes if Windex or other cleaners have been sprayed on to clean the picture tube, they can drip down onto the board and cause corrosion which makes the switches funky. They need to be replaced and the board cleaned of any residue.
