This is the worst solution I've ever heard. This guy is trying to steer you wrong I'm pretty sure. There is zero point in removing all the screws from under the batter/ zero point to removing the area around the power button. Absolute BS. The only part to remove is the part just above the top of the keyboard (silver strip with some black). Then by removing that you can pry the swivel black plastic cover off. Whatever you do.. do not follow Scott's writeup here. I'm telling you. It's sad it's stayed up so long.. so had to warn.

Greetings fellow Humans!

To get into the swivel hinge area you need to pull the battery out, remove the all screws from the battery cavity, make sure you remember where they came from. Then flip laptop over and open it up so you can see the LCD screen.

Start at the right side top corner of the plastic cover above the keyboard area, wedge your finger nail between the plastic seam area till you un-clip the first plastic foot that holds the cover down. Work your finger down the left side gently prying the plastic cover apart, just so were clear you are taking the cover off that the power button is housed in.

ALERT!!! Be careful when removing cover there is a small ribbon cable attached to it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remove the swivel plastic covers by prying the plastic feet gently outwards. Once you have that removed you will be able to see the swivel, my screws were snapped and i needed to replace the swivel only and not the extenders that connect to it. Hope this helps, if you need more help you can email me at geekzone@godaddy.com

How much is a swivel laptop

You can get swivel desks/stands for lap tops any where from $21.00 and up depending on type, style, and features that you would like to have. Let me know if you would like some of the web sites you can go to to view and get prices from. There are many, but I can narrow it down some if you tell me what types interest you.

Try these WEB sites. Use these links.

Replacing a hinge, or both of them, isn't very tough.

This isn't for a Gateway laptop, granted. But all laptops fall into a general replacement like this.

My Gateway laptop model TB120 hinge is broken. any one knows where i can buy a hinge for this model.

This may help and may not. It seems there are lots of people having the same problem you are. The best way to get a replacement seems to buy a cheap junked out Gateway and use the hinge from it. However I would be very careful doing this because the one you buy may not have a good hinge. As many people there are with these issues I would contact Gateway to see if they had a replacement part and would ask to file an official complaint. In addition here is a number to a laptop repair company, they will help you find the most cost effective way to fix your laptop. They are good I have used them for parts before. 1 (800) 999-4409

search "gateway e-155c lcd swivel assembly" on google or any other search engine and you will find the part that you need.
You will need to do your own replacement, but that is the part that will fix your problem

Gateway Table PC Cx2620 Screen Wobble

Unplug and remove the battery pack for safety. DOn't want any shorts to happen. With the laptop open, gently pry with a very small blade the plastic cover at the front of the swivel and remove. It is in two pieces...front and back. It is OK to leave the rear half in place. Once removed you must close the laptop again. You will now have access to the screws on the hinges. Use a small Robertson screwdriver to tighten the screws. Snap the cover back in place....Voila!. IF the screws are broken (like mine were) remove all the good screws, gently lift and move the screen slightly forward, remove the broken screws with some needle nose pliers. Reassemble with new screws. I found some screws at the local computer geek shop in his selection of random screws. THey are quite tiny. CHeck Future Shop if they are in your area as they deal and repair Gateway so you may have a better chance of finding some screws that work. Good Luck.

Disassembly

this site has great tear down instructions for most laptops. if it doesn't have the exact one you can look over a few of the tear downs on different models. you will then understand how to tear down you own laptop.

^_^ good luck bro
