Long wait for remote to change VCR Quasar 41M

We changed the battery in the remote, but we still have to hold the button on the remote long and hard for it to finally make the change on the VCR.

Panasonic NV-SJ205 Changing Rf ?

ok. This is a really easy one.
All you have to do is hold down the menu button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds, If that doesnt work hold down the power button on the remote control for more than 5 seconds. If that doesnt work hold down the power button on the actual vcr unit for 15 seconds. The first method should work for Panasonic's fine.
This will then display your current rf output.
You can then change the output by using the up and down arrows or the channel up and down button on your remote or the vcr unit.
Press menu button to save or the same button you used to bring up the rf opposition eg power button on remote or the unit.

all the best. Top tech

Turn the VCR on and remove any tape. Press the record button and the VHS/TV button simultaneously. You should see a message saying the VCR is unlocked. It worked for me.

You do not need the remote - you can access the menu manually.
  1. Take out (eject) the tape;
  2. press the 2 Channel buttons ("up" and "down") simultaneously;
  3. follow the menu as easily as you did when you did have the remote and you can change all the clock settings;
  4. press the FF button for >, the REW button for <, the PLAY button for UP and the STOP button for DOWN.
  5. when finished, exit the menu with the simultaneous pressing of the Channel UP & DOWN buttons.

VHQ41M VCR

Quasar VCRs at least used to be manufactured by Panasonic. I googled for a cross reference (Quasar model to identical Panasonic) but didn't come up with what looks like a quick cross. I'd go to Panasonic's site and look: http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Video/VCRs/VCRs.list.75431 Did you also get the matching remote? If so, advanced setup should be easy. If not, obtain a remote with the needed capabilities, as advanced functions cannot be done with the VCR located buttons (most late VCRs anyway).

I have not heard of one that doesn't have the selector switch to change to 3 or 4, Could it perhaps be in the front behind a door or just somewhere else?
