Tried the knife, made it 10% better but no wax to clean, bc a small rubber circle is under the net... 3 good hard plucks made mine work again. Don't be afraid to pluck it hard, I tried it before softer, which didn't work initially. Reassemble, twist it's neck counter clockwise (right ear) and pluck HARD.
Answer : Turn on the mobile phone and place within 10 ft of the headset.
With the headset turned off, press and hold the Talk button for about 7 seconds. You will hear a "pair" tone and the LEDs will flash continually to indicate the headset has entered into pairing mode.
Release the Talk button. The headset is now is "pairing" mode.
Initiate the device discovery feature (Bluetooth discovery) on the mobile phone. Refer to your mobile phone manual for further instructions.
When prompted by the phone, enter the headset passkey (0000). When pairing is complete the LEDs on headset will flash at 3 second intervals and the headset will be placed in standby mode, ready to make and receive calls.
Note: On some mobile phones you will need to activate the Bluetooth feature first and then search for the Bluetooth device. Please contact your cell phone manufacturer or the User's Manual for further information on how to pair pair Bluetooth devices.

There are no replacement earbuds for Plantronics Voyager 520. You would
need to replace the headset if the earbuds are making
it uncomfortable enough that the headset is unusable. Link to Headsets
Direct Bluetooth Headsets is included below.
press and hold the button (on/off button) on the ear piece until the light becomes blinking blue and red. Turn on the bluetooth scanner of your phone and search. Select the handsfree and pair them. Simple.
If you turn on your handsfree and the light is blinking purple, that means you need to turn off the handsfree and restart with holding on to the button on the ear piece.
•First take your device and hold it vertical.
•Looking at the earpiece that ressembles somewhat Alladin lamp, it's tip is positioned either at past 20 (for right ear) or before 20 (for left ear).
•Depending if it's one side or the other, you should turn the earpiece clockwise to 30 or counterclockwise to 30. So the "tip of the lamp", which is the ear channel of the earpiece in fact, is indeed at 30 past the hour.
•Then pull it out with a round motion downward, assuming the upper part is the blue light.
You can then change the side of the ear wire and or the earpiece for a different size supplied by RIM when you bought the device.
I don't know how/where to get new earpieces. They don't seem to sell them separately...which is rather frustrating considering the price they sell this device!
