I have a Dell 926 printer and an INSPIRON D530 Computer.I have no idea how or where to hook up the usb printer cables to my computer - I do not have dial up, runs through cable, I do have have the manual, got misplaced. I have nothing but two calbes I don't know what to do with. Any help is appreciated. Also I am NOT a computer whiz by any means. I like the color coded system, I don't even see where to hook up the cables on the back of the modume

The Dell 926 printer is an All-In-One model that you can use as a printer, scanner and a fax machine. When the printer becomes unresponsive there may be a communication problem between the printer and your computer. To correct this type of problem you need to first verify that the USB connector cable is not malfunctioning. You can do this by resetting the communication settings between the computer and the printer. y1Press the "Power" button to turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet or the power strip.
Disconnect the USB connector cable for the printer from the computer.
Turn off your computer from the Windows "Start" menu or by pressing the "Power" button.
Plug the USB connector cable back into a USB port on the computer.
Plug the power cord for the printer back into power strip or electrical outlet.
Press the "Power" button to turn on the printer. Press the "Power" button to turn on your computer.
kindly change the usb port put the cable in other usb port.
Go to printer and faxes option and choose the printer model which you installed just right click on it you will see the option of use printer online. Also I suggest you to change the usb port and the cable also still if you facing the problem follow these steps, right click on my computer and go to properties then hardware in that click on device manger and check there is any other device is listed if it is there just remove it and click for scan for hardware changes when he prompt for driver reinstall the driver cd.

I know this sounds too simple, but get a new USB cord. I had the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy. I followed all the advice about uninstalling, reinstalling and updating multiple times and it never fixed the problem. Finally, my husband made the simple suggestion that maybe it was a problem with the connectivity of the USB cord. I didn't have much faith in it, but I bought a new USB cord and hooked it up - and I have never had a problem with the printer since then. My original USB cord (the one replaced) was the one that came with the Dell printer - perhaps there is a flaw in the cord somewhere. ?
Try removing your 926 icon in Printers and Faxes, disconnect the USB cable, restart your computer, reconnect the USB cable, see the 926 and install the driver again. If scan has never worked, you probably need a different driver.
Power off the printer and disconnect the USB (Parallel ?) cable from the printer to the PC. Reconnect the cable. Restart your PC.
If that doesn't work ... go to Start - Printers and Faxes and delete the Dell Photo 926 icon. Then, power off the printer and disconnect the cable from the PC. Power on the PC and log in. Reconnect the cable and see if the printer is found. If so, install the Photo 926 printer driver. If the printer is not found, you have a printer cable or printer hardware problem. Good luck.
I've had a problem with a 926 freezing at the end of printing when deleting the job from the print queue.This was as a local or network computer/printer task.I changed the print processor to winprint/NT EMF 1.008 and this cured the problem.Right click on the printer/properties/Advanced/Print processor and give it a try.HTH.
