Dishwasher does not "pause" (hault) when I open the door

My dishwash (Asko 1776) does not temporarily shut-off (i.e. pause) when I open the door. It keeps running as if the door was still closed. Obviously this is annoying since I can't add a dish or whatever just after the cycle starts (without getting sprayed!). Otherwise the cycles, the door, the latching, and everything else works fine. So, I assume some catch or other trip mechanism is not being engaged or stuck or something (or maybe a water shut-off valve(?)). Any tips on where the solution may lie and whether this might be something I can easily fix myself? Thanks!!

It's the door switch gone bad or the wire going to it has fallen off.

Asko d3251 randomly stopping during cycle.

The thing that immediately comes to mind is a faulty door switch or latch. The door switch can be replaced and you might be ok. But the latch would be more tricky to check. Sometimes if dishwasher is not level or if the door springs are misalinged the door tends to slip and release the latch due to pressure. It works when you open and shut. But not sure about the night time cycle. That sounds a bit creepy if it starts again by itself. Why not put a tape around the door and then start. That will help eliminate the obvious ones. The other thing that exends dishwasher cycle time is the lack of adequate water temperature. Could be heater or thermostat or both.

Dishwasher doesn't drain at end of cycle

The drain time is programmable. If your manual doesn't show how to do it, you can possibly go to retrevo.com and find a similar one. I happen to have a model 1776 and used the model 1755 manual which is identical.

Asko door latch stuck

The only way is to pull out the dishwasher ,unhook the latch and then unscrew the door panel.your dishwasher is installed with 2 screws to the underside of your countertop. its tricky but youll have to remove them adjust to leveling legs down this will give you more room to get some head bit in ther to remove the screws if its out then slide the d/w foward ,remove the strike plate door will open then you can get your dishes out first

Asko 1776 dishwasher error message

open up the underside of the dishwasher and check the 2 terminals that connect to the heater element. Sometimes they burn off and it is a quick repair to just put a new terminal on the end. Also make sure the water going into the dishwasher is hot, as that can cause this problem too. Hope this helps
