Hi rafiqbrush, let me go over a few things for the P5B MB.
There is a total of 5 serial ATA SATA drive ports on the board & one ATA IDE/PATA port.
The 4 main SATA ports are numbered, 1 - 4. Your primary SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 1. Your second SATA drive must be connected to SATA port 3. See page 2-26 in your manual.
All SATA drives are seen as master drives. Once the two SATA drives are connected (As per manual), boot to the bios main menu.
At the main bios menu make sure your bios shows both SATA drives. Than go to the bios title "Boot". Make sure your primary SATA drive 1 is listed in the boot order. Save & exit the bios. (SATA drive 1 must have windows installed on it).

Good luck rafiqbrush!
Thank you for using fixya.

You stated you have window installed on both drives. Not good.

Windows will restart because it does not know which windows it should load. I'm not going to list what the windows boot.ini should show for your XP SP2.

While windows is installed on both drives.

Of course each drive boots by them its self!

Install one drive. Than format it with the windows CD.

Shut down the system. Move the formatted drive to SATA port 3 & connect your drive with windows on it to port 1. Now try booting the system. Windows "will" run. Even though you may have the bios setup correctly windows still sees two separate working boot files & it will just restart. Windows see's a dual boot system & both windows are using the same name. (Will not work)! Only one drive can not have windows installed on it.

    You posted,

(While both the HDD run well if i connecte separately).

That means you have windows XP installed on both drives.

Now if you can't understand all this than say so!

Three ppl have answered you & everyone missed the mark because no one read all 3 of your post.

    Mike

I have problem in asus A8V-vm motherboard in that hard disk is not detected in BIOS but Win-XP is working properly and when I tries to install new windows XP it shows an error that hard disk cannot be...

Asus A8V-VM Motherboard coming with SATA RAID option, thats why you could not see the detected HDD in system BIOS. But you can see the the detected HDD in RAID BIOS. You can enter to RAID BIOS that will pop up after system BIOS. If you are using old version of WinXP it will not detect the RAID controller of you motherboard. Thats why you cannot able to install WinXP. While you booting from WinXP CD press F6 key when the WinXP installer prompted for third party driver. Copy the RAID driver provider in driver CD to a Floppy Disk (INF file) and insert it, hit enter to continue the installation. If you are using WinXP Service pack 2 or higher you do not need this step it will automatically detect the HDD.

I have an asus p5rd1-vm motherboard. I found problems on installing windows xp using sata hdd. Please help me to install windows xp2 as i am not using floppy drive.

The Windows installation CD does not have a SATA driver. You need a SATA driver of a floppy disk or turn off SATA native driver in the BIOS.
Please click on this link and follow my instructions on how to Install Windows on a SATA hard drive :-
http://www.fixya.com/support/r4335035-installing_windows_xp_sata_hard_drive
I suggest you install SP3 (service pack 3) rather than SP2, it contains the latest bug fixes. The SP3 cannot be installed from a floppy, it can be downloaded from Microsoft, it is a large file approx 300Mb, I suggest you install it from a CD if you can borrow one.

Error code

Apparently the XP Pro CD you are using is pre-SP2, thus causing the error. With XP RTM and SP1, you need to supply the proper SATA drivers for the chipset on the motherboard since there is no built-in support for SATA drives. You can download the drivers from http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/DownloadFile.aspx?catid=1&driverid=2214&areaid=2&LanID=0

During the XP setup you will need to press F6 to install these driver before attempting to copy the XP files to the drive. Or you could make a custom XP CD using the directions at http://maxeasyguide.blogspot.com/2008/04/preparations-for-winxp-installation-cd.html that has these SATA drivers already slipstreamed into the installation procedure.

Or if you know someone who has the WinXP Pro SP2 CD, you could borrow that for the install.

Want to run both Raid 5 (4 drives) and a single SATA boot drive

Download the latest beta BIOS 1238. I had the same problem when adding a Samsung 1TB HDD to my RAID config. Updating to BIOS v1238 solved the Intel RAID Matrix "hanging" instantly.

You can't download it through the official Asus support page yet, but there's a topic in the Asus support forum with a link. You could also call Asus support and request the file, or just download it here: http://rapidshare.com/files/186891601/P5B-Deluxe_1238.rar :)
