Hi im having acer aspire 5920 laptop... the problem is on boot time its taking 4-5 restarts attempts to start properly. suddenly 4-5 restart attempts. and afterwards no sound also in laptop. Im trying to...

When you get it to boot, run CHKDSK/F or Scandisk straight away to try and fix any errors before you find you are unable to get to your files anymore.
Make a backup of your data before it is too late!

Aspire 5920 after capacitor fix, doesnt work from battery

I'm pleased to hear the this fix worked out for you. The 5920 is also prone to quite a few battery charging circuit issues. The most common of which is the inability to run off of the battery. You can power the machine, boot to windows, and check the batter power meter. It could read 100% and the second you unplug the AC adapter the unit immediatly turns off. This is due to a blown fuse in the circuit preventing battery power from reaching the system board. I have included the best picture I could find. Its a little small but i have circled the defective component. You should try to replace it. This may be difficult becuase you would want to replace it with the exact same fuse. For a short term fix you can simple bridge the connection once the fuse has been removed to allow power through. This will solve your problem but may be dangerous to use without a fuse in that location.2c490f1.jpg

Screen wont work. laptop powers up, fan turns on and lights are on. Yet there is no screen activity whatsoever. I have tried the fn esc technique also checked the backlight settings to no avail

Hi,
Quite common for the cable to come loose between the motherboard/video card and the screen itself.
You would have to open it up to check the connections at either end i'm afraid.
Other causes could be the video card / driver.
Hope this is of help.

Problem in external speaker when connected to acer 5738Z LAPTOP

The audio jack on the laptop is for headphones and most likely cannot it cannot deliver sufficient power to drive unpowered speakers.
Check the audio jack with headphones, if the volume setting is high and you still can't get sounds from the headphone and the mute switch is not selected then the audio amp in the laptop is faulty.

Sound problem - Acer Aspire 5920

I assume you are using Windows Vista as ships with Aspire 5920's. Try the following to make sure that Windows is using the correct output options:
  1. Click on the Start Menu and go to Control Panel
  2. From Control Panel click on Hardware and Sound
  3. Click on the heading Sound and the sound configuration box will appear.
  4. The first tab is called Playback and allows you to select a playback device.  You should find your external speakers and internal speakers listed.
  5. Click the external speakers and then click on the "set default" button to make sure that the sound is played back through those instead of your internals.
