The belt on the player is gone and has to be replaced. I have the same problem with the same model and I'm looking for belt myself. All the best.

How to burn a Cd

The Sony MHC-BX2 can record from a CD to a cassette tape. This model doesn't have a CD burner. The manual for the MHC-BX2 is available from Sony support: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=MHCBX2&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab . See page 12 of the PDF.

If your unit is a different model, please post a comment with that model number. I wish that I had better news for you.

(on those shelf systems that can burn a CD, place a blank CD-R or CD-RW (if supported) in the disc tray. Use the function button to set the recording source (Phono with the Croseley units). Place the tape to record in the tape deck and press play reach a point a bit before the desired point to start the recording. (Some also will record from the radio, turntable, or other device. Again start the source playing.) Then press CD Record. Press Stop when you want the recording to stop or when one side of the tape/LP is finished. (Some have a Split Track button if you want to identify every track. Press this during the silent period between songs.) Otherwise, you will get one track per side with tapes/LPs.)

Technics SL-10 does not rotate

OK a blast from the past. There is a switch that is in the base which senses that the cover is closed and this unlocks the arm and disk motor can rotate. The reason that the disk rotates when the cover is up is because this allows the disk to spin up to speed before the arm comes down. Once the cover comes down the switch unlocks the arm and the arm then moves this switch also can stop the disk if the arm does not unlock.

Do i need a record turntable with a biult in amp for my aiea Z-L30

Do you mean AiWa Z-L30?

Generally speaking, if a device doesn't have an input specifically marked "PHONO" it does not have the requisite PHONO preamp for an old-school turntable.

Aiwa plays a word-game on this device and labels an input "Phono" while specifying on page 20 of the manual that you should use a turntable with a built-in EQ Amplifier. In other words, the input should have been labeled a second "AUX IN' as it will accept any sound device that has a Line Level output, not just Phono.

So yes, you need a self-PRE-amplified TT with this product.

I just plugged a turntable into the accessory jacks on my Sharp XL-HP515 so that I can play some of my old LP's. I've got to turn the volume up all the way to hear it and it's still very quiet. Any idea...

If you're using an old-school turntable that doesn't contain a phono preamp that will happen.

A traditional turntable requires a Phono preamp inline with it to PRE amplify and frequency-balance the minute signal produced by it's cartridge for later amplification by a power amp. Most stereo receivers and preamps have Phono connections and internal preamplification strictly for that purpose.

Recent AV Receivers generally do not.

The result would be very low, tinny sound.

If so, you need to get an external Phono Preamplifier.

Some modern TT

I have a memorex stereo, turntable, 3 cd changer etc. The standby light comes on but no sound, it is only 2 yrs old..

Sometimes you have to unplug it for about 30 seconds, then when you plug it in press the power on button. If there is still no sound, check the speaker connections on the back they sometimes come loose.

The gearing and rubber parts involved in FF or REW vs. play are different. This unit should be overhauled and all of the rubber parts replaced.

Make sure you only have one set of cables running FROM this device TO the TV, otherwise you may get intermittent/total black and white.

Cant get it to start

To reset the system to "install" mode press & hold the "play/pause" button in the center of the unit until "AUTO INSTALL- PRESS PLAY" is displayed. If this doesn't work then the unit may be too hot! I see on the philips web site that this model has a temperature sensor & will shut itself off. I am in Spain too & the temperature inside right now is 30C!! You can download the manual at: http://www.p4c.philips.com/files/f/fw-m355_22/fw-m355_22_dfu_eng.pdf
