I put my CD in the disk to load and it sounds like it is loading but nothing then appears on the computer screen? I tried putting in a photo CD to load onto my computer and the same thing..nothing appeared on the screen?
What is the problem? No problems before this at all with loading picture CD's on my laptop...
My drive will read DVDs burn DVDs and burn games just fine. But when I try to look at or burn a picture disc or any type of data disc, it ejects the the disc and says that drive is empty. It isn't recognizing these discs. The is a new problem. It has worked fine in the past. It just started doing this recently. Is there any way to fix this or am I going to have to buy a new drive? I am using Windows 2000 Professional.
1. Make sure discs are loaded the right way. Most, but not all, players load discs with the printed label on top. 2. If player has a transportation lock (usually a screw on the bottom of the unit), make sure it is not engaged. 3. Clean the laser lens.

This used to happen to me as well. Dell is known for faulty/cheap hardware (but it works). If you are lucky enough, you computer is still under warranty and Dell will send you a new one for free (if you send the old one back), otherwise head on over to Newegg.com, tigerdirect.com, bestbuy.com etc and buy a new drive. Sorry, but thats what the worst part of it is.

youre cd's wont run because they were created on another computer/software and yours cant read them.cd's or dvd(usually)running slow or freezing is usually due to large file packets which most software packages cant handle like rm files created on a dvd recorder where the compression is much greater.I myself use a usb dvd +/-writer as well as my onboard dvd ,works well ,if a disk wont play in one itll play in the other

It doesn't read the information on the CD. I am using Windows 2000 on the computer. The model of this drive is 730123-04. (this is a replacement for a faulty CD-Drive) The faulty one was a Creative. ( I have noticed that there is an extra set of jumpers on the back of the Creative unit that are not on the Goldstar. (Could this be the problem???) Thanks Brian brind@shaw.ca
