Question about HP Pavilion F1503 15" LCD Flat Panel Monitor

My HP vs15? flat panel monitor is driving me nuts

First, my parents unplugged a few things out of anger one day.
That was a year ago, they've finally given me my computer back and I hooked everything back up inside no problem.
I went to turn in on and the monitor will start and then say going to sleep, then start itself up again given you the option of normal mode or safe mode.
If you go into safe mode, you're fine, if you go into Normal mode, it goes through that process of monitor going to sleep and starting up again.
I thought maybe it was the tower because of me maybe missing something small in it that would cause something big.
Well I took it to a friend who went to school for that and he took the memory card out, put it back in and hooked it up to his monitor and it ran perfectly fine in normal mode. Woohoo.
Well I took it home, and it's still doing it on my monitor, so I can come to the conclusion that I narrowed it down to it's the monitor? not the tower.
well I looked at the settings and it shows a recommended setting for a thousand some number x a thousand some number (can't check at the moment or I would) and then it says 60.0 GHRZ? when in safe mode, the first numbers are smaller than the recommended. but it meets the 60.0 GHRZ? it's actually 60.9, so would that mean in normal mode it's not meeting that and that's why it keeps restarting the monitor like that? When I restored the other day, I was given an option of installing hardware for the monitor? I clicked continue anyways. I'm now in the process of restoring and seeing more details about that and maybe trying no this time to see where I can't get. But even if it were to fix the problem or it weren't could anyone suggest anything or explain anything more to me? Thank you for taking your time to read this and thank you if you were to reply, I really appreciate it.

Think yer gnna need to first install your monitor drivers,...if it didnt come with software, then look it up online,...then install uyer video card drivers if u have a video card,..., also download the manuals,..pdf,...fer each. if u dont mind the reading then the drivers plus manuals should tell u everything u need to kno about ur problem. its all about the specifics...hope this helps ;)

Vs15 (Gray, Metallic) 15 in. Flat Panel LCD Monitor: you mash the power button and the light will come ...

Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed HP monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

You need thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case, it is almost the same as VS19, more likely to havebad caps with bulging tops, see pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/HP%20VS19D/

Hello there kittensue.

Here's your geek-steer ...

Based on your trouble description, likeliest to be either the monitor OR the video card:
  • Connect the troubled monitor up to a "known good" PC system.
  • Swap a "known good" video card into the system hooked up to the troubled monitor, or vice-verse.
Deduction will reveal which is in need of repair/replacement.

Good luck, and please do post back ...

  • to let me (and interested others) know how things worked out,
  • to provide clarification or feedback,
  • if you have ANY further questions.
Today's the best day of my life ... and NOW you're part of it!

Is the power light on? If not, recicle the monitor. If it is on, then maybe the back lighting is the culprit.
I have a similar problem, and the repair is more expendive than buying a new one.

Hmmm, seen this one before, did you recently clean the screen with some kind of liquid cleaner/spray? I had to repair a monitor with same problems, some fluid had leaked onto the switch board....If not, any key's stuck or pressed in too hard?

Hp vs15, black screen, power light goes on and off like it is in sleep mode

Monitor is dead. The LCD inverter board probably went out and needs replacing. More than likely, it will cost you over $100 to get it fixed. It's better to spend the money on a new monitor.
