Flyback Okay I my husband has not being soldering the flyback so as soon as I get a new fuse I'm hoping we will have this problem fixed. I do have a question I ordered my fuses from partsstore.com but they are claiming there is a national backorder on these fuses. Any idea where I can one for a quick fix. Our Radio Shack only had auto fuses. Nothing like I needed.

You can substitute a 1 amp PICO (pronounced peeko) fuse and it will work just fine. You should be able to order them anywhere. Let me know if I can be of further assistance

I have an RCA P61937, and the picture is bowed and distorted....what can i do to fix this problem?? and how do i know what part i need

well look under power supply board around flyback. they have bad solder joints. it will then blow
the 400 ma fuse. just rtesolder the flyback and replace the 400 ma fuse beside flyback
tip

I replaced the fuse and the tv worked for nearly 20 minutes then it blew again....

FL231. FUSE.... The RCA ITC222 chasis has a common problem. and it not all that difficult to repair. Does your rca projection tv have read blue and green shadows? Does it have bowing in affect on the top and bottom of picture? when you turn it on does some thin red green and blue line bow in from the top then go away. The main question to determine if you have the fl231 fuse problem is if you go into customer menu then setup do you have the "CONVERGENCE' option. If you do not. then i suspect you have this problem. In the manufactering of these sets Lead free solder is used. now there is great debate over the use of lead free. connection tend to be more brittle. cracks develop around the solder connections of the high voltage flyback transformer. this very small crack set up oscillations in the cuicit with a 400 milliamp fuse. THis fuse cant take it. When this fuse blows the processor then does not know its a projection tv with three projection tubes. it thinks its a crt tube tv. and crt tube tv dont need "convergence" so it removes the convergence from the set.

TO REPAIR... 1. Warning. this set can generate leathal dangerous voltages even unplug do not attempt if you have no experence with electronics.
2. Remove the back. there a number of torx 20 screws.
3. what you will see is a number of circit boards There will be one on the right and one on the left. the one on the right is the small signal board. the one on the left is called the power deflection board. it has a large black part with a big red or black wire coming from the top, this is the flyback.Next to the flyback on the right of it there will be three small rectangular componets tan or brown in color. these are fuses. the one in the middle is the fl231 fuse.
4. getting to this fuse can be difficult. these two cuicit boards sit on a tray that is removable. to remove this tray it is pulled out and up. BUt watch the wires.loosen the wire tyes.
5 when you get the tray up the bottom side of the board can be accessed
you will now have to unsolder that fuse. one side of this fuse is under a plastic part of the tray. i have found the easest way is to cut away the plastic to get to it. if you dont want to do this you will have to remove the board. only remove half of the plastic brace
6. REPLACE FUSE RCA PART 259213
7 RESOLDER FLYBACK CONNECTIONS simply heat up and add a little solder
8 reassemble set. make sure you examine the set for loose connections.
9 and remember "BE Careful'

Convergience not working, three color pictures and concaved top and bottom. Is there a module that I can replace?

Check the small brown fuse FL231 located just to the lower right of the flyback. There are 3 small brown fuses. The middle one is FL231. Most likely it is blown. The reason it blows is because of the lead free solder used on the new boards. If you turn the board over you will probably find cracked solder joints on the flyback terminals. Re-solder all of the flyback terminals and replace the fuse if it is blown. This fuse tells the TV that it is a rear frojection TV and not a standard CRT

RCA HDTV LOOKS LIKE THE PICTURES IN 3- D PLEASE HELP

There are 3 small fuses that will blow if the solder connections on the flyback transformer crack. If you open the tv, unplugged of course, you will see the flyback on the left most board.. the big thing with the red wire coming out of it. the 3 fuses are small orange squares just to the right of it.. two are 400mA and one is 1.25mA i believe.. anyways youll need a multimeter to check them and see which is blown.. solder the connections on the bottom of the flyback and replace appropriate fuse to fix. If only one color is off place, try going into the convergence adjusments in the menu to resolve without repair (might get lucky).. if its all 3 colors bowed on all sides, this fuse/soldering should fix it right up. A repair center will charge maybe $200-250 to do the job

Okay let me know what you think

the flyback transformer is the large black component simalar looking to a disrtibitor of a car it has a large red wire coming out of top and a black wire. On the bottom of the board it has about 10 pins arranged in a circle. this is flyback is located adjacent to the fuse.

I am working on an RCA HDTV Model # R52WH73. The RGB channels are not aligned properly on the screen and there is no option in the menu for correcting the alignment. I have electronics repair experience,...

There are bad connections on the flyback transformer and, in addition, right beside the flyback you will see three little square fuses. The one in the middle will be open. Replace it and solder the flyback, All will be okay

Tv won't stay on

The first thing I would do is to check the solder connections on the flyback transformer. This is a common problem with this set
