The problem you are having is common, so don’t feel bad. I learned all of this helping another individual that had no idea how to use this tool. The confusion comes from the fact that it loads differently than most staplers. The staples are NOT loaded on top of the pull out shaft; they are inserted directly into the slot that opens when you pull the shaft out. The other big issue is a safety feature. If the nose of the tool is not placed firmly against a surface, it will not fire. Go to Stanley’s website’s knowledge base and type in the model number TRE550, and you can get a PDF of directions. Here is a step by step with a pic below: Unplug the tool. Squeeze the end of the shaft at the rear bottom of the tool and pull out the shaft. Flip the tool over on it’s back. Insert the staples, (points up) and then slide the shaft back in. Plug it in, press the on button (under the the power cord in the back). Press the nose squarely against the material and press the trigger.loading a stanley electric stape/nail gun - a665293.jpg

Hi Tifffany
You must use the correct stape for the gun. The long black rod does not come out, just pull the rod back and drop the staples into the slot with points toward the bottom of the gun. T50 staples will work.
Hope this will help you.

How do I load the stapler?

No you don't. We answer most things here.

If the stapler is like any of these

You push the back in slightly to unlatch it and then drop it down a bit and the staple pusher comes out completely.

How do you load nails into a stanley tre550 nail staple gun?

there should be a button on the bottom rear of the gun, when you press it, it should release a bar that you pull back. the nails go in the dirction you nail them. sometimes the clips are too big for the guns and you have to break about an inch off of them

Broken part in Stanley Heavy duty Electric Staple/Nail gun

Bought a new one. Stanley hold no spares in this country, so it was cheaper this way! I am disappointed it broke so easily, so soon in its proper life. The part that failed seems poorly designed to me.
