It sounds like you have not connected the B+ Battery backup wire so it retains all memory (radio stations & CD track info). There are 2 power wires (RED & YELLOW). 1 of them labelled B+ need to be connected to a permanent 12V supply and the wire labelled ACC needs to be connected to the ignition switch.

Have a kdc-x596, just installed and in the seek mode for AM does not pick up any stations. Locks on to FM fine. What gives?

Sounds like you didn't have the BLUE power antenna wire hooked up. Pull out the radio to confirm. The BLUE wire (from aftermarket radio) will turn on an antenna booster if there is one in the car. What car is this in?

Ive got a vauxall astra and just taken the sterio out of this as it did not work .ive rplaced it with a kenwood kdc 237 cd player which plugged straight in ,only problem is if i store a radio station...

You will need to wire into the permanent live , if the unit has bluetooth then you pair the unit with the phone and play your tracks via bluetooth.

Unable to store a radio station. When i switch cd player off and on again stations are lost.

Check power wires for blown fuse. Should have 2 (minimum) and one is main power, other is for memory.

Can find the stations on the radio but can not keep them on there after the radio has gone from standby

Hi,
You need to "store" the stations when you find them by depressing and holding down a channel preset button to store. If they do not stay stored after turning off the radio or the ignition, then the memory wire(yellow wire) may not be connected, or the fuse blown. It should be connected to power that never disconnects... that is straight to the battery. Check ot out and get back to me if you need more assistance.

Kenwood kdc-mp239 car stereo overheating

Did you change the speakers, usually this happen because of the Ohms. Let me explain you, The factory radios are usally 8 Ohms and must of the aftermarket speakers are 4 Ohms or less so if you put 4 Ohms in a radio designed to work with 8 Ohms of coures is going to get hot first and them you burn it out.

you can try either pushing the reset switch (which will be a small indentation either on the face or the subpanel behind the face) or disconnect power to the radio for a few seconds.

I have a kenwood w313 car cd player and it wont store anything

Check you wiring. There are going to be 2 powers in the back of the radio. The yellow wire is the constan/memory wire. Make sure you have it hooked up to constant power.
