The pilot light is out on my valor gas fire place. When I go to light it the flame comes on but if you let the button up to turn on the burners it goes out.

Keep the pilot gas control pressed down for 30 seconds to a minute after it lights to allow the thermopile in the pilot light to heat up. If you are already doing this the thermopile needs replacing

Pilot light keeps going out

If you have not already replaced the thermocouple then this may be the problem, If you
have already replaced the thermocouple with a "universal" this may also be the problem
as it may be a different length in relation to the flame of the pilot.

Our pilot light does not stay on...sometimes when temperature changes out side

The pilot light has a thermocouple that allows gas to the pilot light while the flame is burning. If flame goes out it shuts gas off to the pilot jet. It seems that your thermocouple is faulty and needs to be replaced if pilot light keeps going out as the outside air cools.

Wolf oven won't light after only 3 years since last repair.

You could try a new thermocouple and/or cleaning the pilot assembly. The thermocouple is the tube that screws into the pilot safety valve and runs to the actual pilot and is heated by the pilot flame. If you change this part be sure not to over tighten the thermocouple into the safety valve as it can break. You should go finger tight plus a quarter turn. Also you should check to see if the pilot is solid, not weak. Thermocouples can be purchased from your local equipment service company, sometimes Home Depot has them for water heaters, be sure you get on with proper length. Hope this helps.

Whirlpool water heater pilot light does not stay lite

I have a Lowe's Whirlpool water heater. I've experienced the same problems as I've seen described here. My pilot light started going out several times a day. It was not such a big deal, the tank is well insulated so the water would stay warm - I'd just re-light the pilot before going to bed and before going to work. That worked well for about three days, but the problem got progressively worse until it just would not light at all. I replaced the thermocouple with a Honeywell universal thermocouple that I got at Home Depot - that did not solve the problem. I'm very handy, so I decided instead of going through warranty service and having to wait three or four days for replacement parts, I'd buy a new gas valve at Lowes and try that. It cost $54.00 and it worked. By the way, I put the original thermocouple back in and the pilot light stays lit - it was definitely the gas valve and not the thermocouple in my case. It was a real pain to do since I had to drain the tank, but it only took about three hours total. From what I've read, these things last anywhere between six months and two years. That's ridiculous, but at least I have hot water now. If you are reading this because you are considering purchasing a Lowes hot water heater, DON'T!!! I started my search for a replacement gas valve at Home Depot, but they don't stock them. Lowes had 8 on the shelf. That tells you something right there - the water heaters Home Depot stocks don't need to have the gas valves replaced before the tank wears out - there's no demand for the valves so Home Depot doesn't stock them. Lowes probably sells 8 of them a week - all the boxes were shiny and new, not dirty and dusty like some items get when they sit around in home improvement stores.

Pilot light on heater

check the millivolt generator is working. this is the copper colored tube in the flame path. for spark perhaps the gap is too wide. the flame sensor electrically keeps the pilot valve open.
