Question about Casio Office Equipment & Supplies

# 'DEG' shown on the screen

I cannot remove the letters 'DEG' from the top centre of the screen. I don't require this function for my calculations. Can you help please?

Thank you.

That just means the calculator is set to display results in degrees (as opposed to radians or some other measure). It has no effect on anything and you can ignore it.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
goodluck!

### How do i get my calculator to do the trig problem Tan45=1? It is telling me Tan45=1.61977, and i know that isn't right.

tan(45 deg)=1
If your problems require angles to be measured in degrees, make sure that the calculator's angle unit is set to degrees.
In RUN screen press [SHIFT][MENU] (SetUp) select the angle line and press function key under the tab Deg (should be F1).

### DEG mode

The DEG indicator has absolutely nothing to do with division, fraction or other operations. It is relevant only when you are calculating trigonometric functions (Sine, Cosine Tangent and their inverse functions.)

When you are calculating trigonometric functions the results depend on the angle unit the calculator is configured for
DEG >> angle values are in degrees.

From the equivalence 180 deg =Pi radians you get

The DEG indicator merely reminds you that angles are in DEG. If you change the unit to RADians the RAD indicator will be displayed instread.

### Ho can i get deg off the top of mt calculator i think it is making my answers wrong not all but some of them when i try to check my work

Hi,
Maybe some of your answers are wrong, but I can assure you that it has nothing to do with the poor deg indicator sitting on the top of your screen.
The indicator is there to remind you that the angle unit is set to degree, meaning any number you feed a trigonometric function is considered to be in degrees, and that any value calculated by an inverse trigonometric function is in degrees.

If you prefer to work in radians or in grads, all you have to do is change the settings of the calculator.
To change angle unit:
Press [SHIFT][MODE] and choose
1. 3:Deg for angle unit in degrees. Screen shows D
The calculator crunches number according to your specifications. It obeys your orders. Only YOU know what you are supposed to do.

I suggest you look at the manual that shipped with your calculator. Lookk for exemples of the calculation you want. Make a note of the exemple numbers and check the appendix for the particular exemple. The appendix will show you all the key strokes.

Hope it helps.
Thank you for using FixYa.

### How to use the cosine, tangent etc functions of calculator fx-82ES plus

Hello,

2. Press the key for the function COS, SIN, or TAN
[COS] displays Cos(

3.Enter the angle 12 deg Screen shows cos(12
Close the right parenthesis ) Screen shows cos(12)
4.Press [=] Screen displays 0.9781

If you want the inverse trigonometric functions you access them with arccos [SHIFT] [COS] (cos^-1)
arcsin [SHIFT][SIN] (sin^-1)
actan [SHIFT][TAN] (tan^-1)

You have to know the principal domain for the inverse trigonometric functions (see any book on trigonometry) to understand the results.
Hope it helps.

### I have the letters DEG with an up arrow in the right top of calculator screen that I cannot get rid of. It will not allow me to compute square roots or anything. How do I get rid of these...

Hello,
Sorry, I do not know what problem your calculator has, but it certainly is not related to the presence of the DEG indicator in the top (user inaccessible) part of the screen. This is an indicator (or a reminder) that the angle unit was set to Degrees. If you change the angle unit to RADian, the DEG indicator will be replaced by another that displays RAD. Whenever the calculator is turned back on again, the angle unit is reset to degrees. What can one do? Better accept it, tolerate it, or ignore it.
So the gist of the story is that you cannot get rid of the indicators.

This answer is certainly not what you wanted to hear, but I am only the messenger, albeit one who volunteered to help a fellow human.

Greetings.

### Show two decimal places

Input the following and try:
1. Press 2ndF and . the point button. This changes the screen to FIX DEG
2. Press 2ndF +/- 2 Answer shown is to 2 dec. pl.
3. If you want it to 5 decimal places, Press 2ndF +/- 5 answer shown is to 5 d.p. and so on
For normal, just take calculator out of FIX so just DEG shows.

Couldn't find you a YouTube video, so text will have to do.

### Problem with Casio FX 260 Calculator

Read the screen capture about the MODES of this calculators. DEG,RAD, and GRAD remind the user that the angle units in trigonometric function calculations and coordinate conversions are in degrees, radians or grads. They have nothing to do with the other calculations you are doing.

You can only remove DEG by changing the angle unit to RADians or GRADs. In so doing, the new unit indicator (RAD, GRAD) will be displayed instead. There is no point worrying about the angle unit indicator unless you are performing coordinate conversions or calculating trigonometric functions or the inverse trigonometric functions.

MODE 9 cancels the FIX display format: decimal are displayed with a fixed number of decimal places (set by the user). After this key sequence the decimal display format reverts to NORM(al).

### PROBLEM W/ CASIO fx-260 SOLAR

Sorry, but I think you misunderstood what the manual says. See the not on the screen capture.
True the sentence is not very clear, but what it means is the following:
All modes (except COMP) will have an indicator (with the appropriate labeling) displayed. When in COMP mode the COMP indicator is not displayed.

The truth of the matter is that computation- wise you have two MODES only : the general COMPutational mode and the Standard Deviation (SD Statistics) MODE. These two are incompatible because the key layout is different.

But to compute trig functions
1. calculator must not be in SD mode, hence it is in COMP mode
2. An angle unit must be shown on display.
