Question about Lexmark X73 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My 4 in 1 wont scan but does print

I have a lexmark X73 several years old but allways worked fine in the past all of a sudden it quit scanning or copying(it still prints however). when i try to scan to file a window pops up that says "scanner couldnt be enabled" when i close that window i get another that says "scanning was canceled by user or terminated abnormally" i have uninstalled and installed several times tryed different usb ports downloaded updates for windows (xp by the way if that makes a difference) any help would be most appreciated by the way the scanning light in the printer/scanner is allways on even when i turn the machine off. dont recall that being the case back in the good old days when all was good in my world thanks in advance for any help

Before we give up on the scanning/copying ability of your machine. Try unplugging the machine from the wall and from the computer for at least a couple minutes. If that doesn't work, You may also check for a factory reset switch or reset mode you can choose. http://downloads.lexmark.com/cgi-perl/downloads.cgi?category=Drivers&ccs=229:1:0:94:0:0&os_group=WinXP&searchLang=en Last but not least. Uninstall the printer again, unplug it from the wall and computer. Make sure you restart the machine and even shut it down before trying to reinstall the drivers. The above site has a patch for the scanner. Not sure if its what may be ailing yours. Let me know what happens. Good Luck, Tim

Will the printer scan or copy if the ink is dry?


The printer will san to screen but not to a copy. No ink, no copy

Lexmark X73 Printing Problem


When you say that your all-in-one system will copy, but will not print from the computer, this tells me that there could be a connection problem between the printer and the computer. This is more then likely a driver problem. you will need to go to lexmark and download the latest drivers for your operating system.
But this could also be a broken or loose cable.

Printer works, copier and scanner do not


you might try enabling bi-directional printer support in printer properties, if its paralell cable then it is in bios, epp or ecp.

Artcopy 55?


To resolve this error, complete steps A and B below. Step A:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Program Files\LexmarkX73.
  3. Delete the Artcopy55.jac file.
  4. Open the Scan & Copy Control Program. (Go to Start, Programs, Lexmark X73, Scan & Copy Control Program.)
    The file will be rewritten with the latest settings.
Step B:
  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. Go to C:\Windows\Twain_32.
  3. Delete all folders except for the Lexmark folder.
  4. Reboot the computer.
Note: If completing the above procedure doesn't resolve the problem, JETSOFT recommend reinstalling Windows XP as a solution. (JETSOFT is the company that developed the Scan & Copy Control Program.)

I have a lexmark x73 i'been instaling so manytimes on order to make the scaner to work but nothing I would apreciatte if you can give me some tips or help thanks


Hi,
The all in one solution software you used in XP doesn't work fully with Vista.

But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.

1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie Lexmark X73) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.

I had the same exact problem. Check your cable if it is a 1.0 usb you will need to buy the new 2.0 usb cable. They have them at shop4tech.com for cheap!!!!!

The included X73 OCR has disappeared


When you install software install in another location ( do not install in program files as normally ) let me know if u got help!

Scanner will not scan


Set this options un der Control panel Scanner and camera. If fails try this, Uninstall everything HP Installed. Unplug the scanner. Then reboot. THen install the drivers and applications. Then reboot. then insert the HP scanner into the USB.
