Installed new motherboard, but system would not boot. What is the problem. Did not receive a manual with motherboard at time of purchase.

Hello Dch,

After replacing the mother board if the system is not booting up then check the power connections on the mother board. The wires of power, restart buttons are properly connected to the motherboard. Also check the thermal grease which is used between cpu fan and cpu. If the thermal grease gets dried then clean the grease and apply the 2 drops of new thermal grease and properly lock the cpu fan.

I have a clients gateway pc model # (GM) MFATXNIN NMZ 500L s/n 0028350194. The m/b p/n is intel 4000792 I need the drivers for this pc badly

See: http://support.gateway.com/support/supinfo/index.asp?pg=2&file=mpcprod.html

In 2007, Gateway sold all the parts & support for your client's computer to MPC Corporation.
Then, in 2008, MPC Corporation declared bankruptcy. So, read the above web-page for details
on how to download device-drivers for your specific S/N (0028350194) and model-number.

How to determine where to connect the POWER SWICTH, POWER LED, HDD LED, RESET SWITCH to acer motherboard PC 915-478.

Hello, and thanks for using FixYa.
Most likely bottom right corner where you have pins stickking out of the board. Small text nearby will note what goes where.
Please let me know if you require further assistance or if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Processor is a pentium 4 but i want to upgrade to a duo core. need to know the socket number on the gateway mfatxstl elp 500xl pc pentium 4 processor. please help

Looks like a 478. I pulled one comment from a person using a 1.7GHz and a review gives a 2.6GHz. A 478 seems logical without taking off the heatsink. I don't believe anyone makes a dual-core 478.

These guys seem to have a fair amount of 478s available, just have to know the specs on the buss (400,533,800).

P4sd socket 478 motherboard is not booting up at all !!!

1st check if the voltage from the plug has correct groung , neutral phase set .then
try a new smps , with minimum 400W output.
before connecting the same.
please remove all the parts out of the cabinet please connect only motherboard and smps and check its getting switched on , if not then your board is burnt you will have to replace it , if there is power indication then connect the RAM and check , if its also fine then connect the rest and try.
all this u have tried and no use , please post me a msg with full detail of your PC configuration , I can try a resolution

Need new motherboard for Gateway 830GM

Looks like you have a p4 478 socket with ddr memory bad luck they only make 478 boards with ddr2 memory now. And when ever the power supply is as old as the motherboard it should be replaced to. Here's the specs I found on your computer http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Gateway-830GM. You could always try your luck on ebay good luck.

Gateway's support site should have a nice diagram for you in your manual--they are also quite helpful if you have trouble locating it.
