Question about Dell Axim X30 Pocket PC

2 Answers

I dropped it and it went blank.

I accidentally dropped it while taking it out of my pocket and it got bright spots on the screen that vary. Some parts of the screen are normal, while some are almost completely white. Help would be appreciated!

The screen has either been shifted out of position, the glass chipped, or the electronics physically damaged. If the video is actually being displayed wrong, you're pretty much done unless you can get replacement parts. But, if the screen is just shifted slightly under the glass cover opening up the phone, and manually resetting the screen against the board might fix the issue. Also, while you have it open look for chipped areas along the glass edge of the screen. You may be able to replace that from another phone if it seems otherwise undamaged.

But there isn't any easy fix, I mean you DID drop it. Just doing a hard reset or reloading the software isn't going to fix physical damage. On the other hand, what have you got to loose by opening it up?

Nothing much could be done here there might be some damage done to the PDA  if all the functins are working properly except the display you could go to a dealer ask him to replace the display unit . you will have to pay though......

Handset shows no display. Our blackberry pearl handset 8120 has stopped displaying anything after it was accidentally dropped from the pocket.

is it new?, if it is take it send it back to blackberry and get them to fit it for a small fee, or if it is old find a way to open the cover and check for damages in: the circuit board, any wiring and the screen (back and front).

Remove Program but can't remove icon on Programs Screen

Probably need to use file explorer - find folder in windows for the desktop. Open it and you should see icons. Delete extra ones.

NEC MobilePro 780 Screen

A couple of things spring to mind. Have a good hard look at the screen when it goes dark. Is there still an image there but it is really dark? If so, consider that it may be a faulty backlight. It may also be a faulty ribbon cable joining the screen to the main unit, or it may be that the brightness down button is stuck and causing it to lower the brightness. The fact that you are pressing the brighness (up button I am guessing) and it comes back on, may indicate the bright down button is stuck or by pure chance you are pressurising the board in that area causing a bad contact to work, such as power to the backlight or pressure on the ribbon cable. I dont have one of these MobilePro's but I am just going on things I have seen with notebook PC repairs. Hope this helps.

Dropped PDA

First of all, you must dissasemble the pda if you have some experience with that. There are some possible problems, one regarding the display connector to the motherboard and the other to the motherboard itself.Probably the display connector isn't atached firmly to the motherboard. There is a worse scenario where you may accidentaly burned some dc convertors on the mainboard when attemting to power on after the pda was dropped. If you can, dissasemble the pda, check the connectors, remove and reconect the back-up battery, and then, just to be shure, perform a hard reset.

Have you tried the folowing:
Go to start, select setting, and select system st the bottom, and select Backlight. In backlight you will fid different options at the bottom, select brightness and you can set your brightness levels on your battery mains aor power mains. I suggest you keep it low as it saves battery enegy.

Screen problems with 540

Sounds like the shock from being dropped may have caused some internal connections to the screen to become loose causing the stripes or blank screen. It is also possible something might have been damaged. It sounds more like a loose connection and not any damage, but I don't know for sure. My suggestion would be to get it looked at by a professional.
