To choose what to display when Windows starts, how to make the PC faster and even speed up the Internet, go to my YouTube Channel here. It has answers to all kinds of problems.
Also, if your PC is too old, you may need to replace it surely, as it won't be compatible even with the latest light freeware.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

uninstall unnecessary program, scan your PC for possible malware with your updated anti virus, expired antivirus can slow your pc to half of it's speed.Manage your start up program only run program that you nid when you open your PC.Last thing is defrag your PC.
First thing to do to speed up a computer even with this slow processor is to remove some unnecessary program installed on the computer, then run a good anti virus and anti malware software some Avast and Malwarebytes to make sure that not a virus or malware is causing this slow computer and the best thing to is to add up a Mermoy on your computer that will surely make it much faster....
sounds like the hdd is just loaded if all you have freei s 1 gb and that makes the cpu move slower no if 6 yrs aith out goop is fine not that.
1. I suggest backing up only important personal data and formating & reloading the original (prefered oem xp for example) or any upgraded os you have access to eith software or some computers have a recovery process on the hard drive ( hit f X to start recovery process) this will clean all the junk off & give you back your original speed only install what programs / data needed use a good antivirus such as avast and antispyware such as defender from windows
You will want to bump the RAM up to at least 512mb. This will drastically increase the speed of the machine. Also, download CCleaner from filehippo.com, this is a cleaning program that will get rid of excess junk the slows the computer. Everything else is good.
first go to run inthe start column type in msconfig when it comes up go to start up and stop most of the programs that are loaded at startup leave only antivirus. as all programs will work in normal way as you need them go to windows explorer c:\ right click\properties\tools\check now tick the box Fix errors reboot. On rebooting windows will scan file system for errors and fix them
