check out if you have any active sound drivers currently. if not install a driver.
aslo if current driver is not working there is a option of roll back the drivers. which can temprorality reactivate your sound driver. and boss for presario c700 vista is much more compitable.. infact the model was made for vista.... if u have enough time and money please do install original vista for good performance.. cheers!!

If your Wundows vista is a full install program you should have deleted and created the partion then formatted the new partition before installing windows vista. Try this again if you hard drive is stuffed you will need a new one Im afraid but windows vista will tell you this before it installs itself.
