Re: Trutech 17 inch tv dvd player the dvd spins seems not...
The first step is to clean the lens of the optics assembly (if you can get to it) carefully using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that does not resolve the problem, try playing a music CD. If the music CD plays but a DVD does not, it suggests that the laser is starting to fail and needs to be replaced. CDs require far less laser power to read than DVDs.

Often overlooked is tha fact that if you switched to another input, the dvd motor will not spin? Check that first, not switched to another input to the TV or the LCD screen? Otherwise, it is easy to replace the dvd unit.
Check if you would have the same if you use a different signal source. Another DVD Player, a playstation or other AV devices. The source or the TV may not be understanding each other, one may be sending analog signals while TV is only recognizing digital.
You can hook up an external dvd player with the rca cables, just switch input to "a/v" to watch dvd player. ours stopped working too. the motor that spins the dvd's just gives out and starts slipping, the laser cannot read the disc unless it spins fast enough.
It could be that the DVD player has a bad home switch in the dvd player or that it doesn't know that the door is closed. I have run into similar situations with CD Players years ago. Also keep in mind to unplug unit and let sit for 1 minute to let microprocessor reset. Let me know if that helps. Thank you ...Jay
Sounds like a common problem with this trutech brand. There are some possibilities. 1. Laser could be worn out, 2 it could be a bad cable coming from the laser. 3 The home switch for the laser to come all the way back to its "HOME" position could be bad. But usually if this is the case, the disc won't spin at all. And 4th, the spindle motor that spins the disc could be worn out. Causing the disc not to spin fast enough and thus causing an error. Let me know if you want to send me one of these anyone so as i can trouble shoot the problem further. Keep me posted and i hope this helps you out some. Thank you Jay
