Hi, sorry i thought i left a more in depth description than that! The fridge light comes on, and the compressor comes on periodically for a short time. but not very often. It does cool, but for such a short time. The fridge is basically at room temperature

    Fridge not turning on

There is power - lights/beeping working. Loud humming (from compressor?). They have replaced the unit & this one will not cool. It has been on for 24 hours. All my food is ruined.

Fridge in off how to turn on

I'm not sure of your exactly fridge model, but if you have a fridge with an electronic panel, there should be a On/Off button. Press the button and wait until you hear a noise (keep on holding for some good seconds). The panel will than show OFF mode. Also - the fridge engine will turn off, and it will be really obvious as it powers off.

Hotpoint RLA51 fridge keeps freezing up

A fridge makes cold air in the freezer only and blows it into the fridge throu a little air door with a small fan, one of your temerature adjustments will open and close this little door and the other ajustment (the thrmostate) will turn on and off the compressor at what ever temperature you have it set for. if the little door is closed to much the cold air can not get into the fridge fast enough to make the temperature cold enough to turn of the thermostate. This will cause items to freeze near the air door as the air comming out of it will be something like -20C. to fix this it sometimes helps to open this little door more... something like "freezer temp warmer" and also to turn the "fridge temp warmer". if that does not do it, then the thermostate may be faulty, to test it slowly turn it down untill the fridge turns off, if it only turns off at the off position, replace it. also one last thing , sometimes the airdoor can frost up and restrict the air from blowing into the fridge, so you can unplug the fridge and leave the doors open for the weekend and let everything thaw out. then set all the controls for normal and plug back in. Make sure you do not leave the unit plugged in or sometimes the little door light can get so hot it may melt the plastic lining in the fridge.

Fridge freezing up

Check the fridge sensor. On my Hoover HNMF2805AL80 f/f, first I replaced control module - still freezing.
Have just replaced cheap fridge temperature sensor. Part No. 97061619. Trouble is you have to cut into insulation at back of fridge to replace. I just plugged in sensor & placed inside fridge at back at the bottom - so far so good, only lettuce freezing now, everything else v. cold but not frozen. :)

Fridge Icing Up

Sounds like you have a defrost Prob. Take back cover off. Turn defrost timer in to defrost mode you will feel a click. timer may be located in fridge. ceiling or back wall if not there check bottom of fridge. behind kick plate or in back bottom of fridge. by compressor. See if heating element gets hot if not check for 120 volts at heater and defrost thermostat ( Terminator ) if not check defrost timer if you do have 120 volts check for 120 volts at heater terminals if no voltage or weak voltage replace terminator if you do have good voltage replace heating element. When ice builds up the fridge. starts to get warm turn off for 24hrs turn back on fridge. will run OK till ice builds back up.

My dometic fridge will not turn on

Check to see if you have a switch for storage, on, off etc. usually between doors, or near top right corner of fridge compartment. It may be in wrong position.

Fridge compartment is freezing in my Hoover upright fridge-freezer. Any advice greatfully recieved. Thanks, Owen

have you tried turning down the temperature for the freezer or fridge? The fridge gets its cold power from the freezer, it is siphoned into it. So turning down the freezer temp may help but a sensor may have gone bad in the motherboard of your freezer and not closing off the vent into your fridge
