The streaks of color in addition to the computer componenets locking up points to an issue with the motherboard. You have ruled out the problem being with your monitor, and if your drivers are up to date and function correctly /before/ the error occurs, then it is not a problem with the driver (almost definitely). The only other thing it could be is a problem with the video card or the communication between the video card and mobo. With the addition of your LAN, mouse, and keyboard not responding, that would point to either two components and your USB (or PS2) ports becoming faulty at the same time (unlikely), or that your motherboard is unable to properly communicate with the devices. I would see what kind of tests you can run on your motherboard and, if possible, contact the manufacturer for more details and about a possible replacement.

Go to safe mode with f8 as os starts. Restore os to an earlier date when everything was functional. Use system restore (start - all programs - accessories -system tools - system restore). Flush browser plugins. (uninstall java, ar, flash etc..) Run virus/spyware/malware scan. Clean infections if found. Update os and browser. Delete unknown browser helper objects. Update plugins and addons. Remove old toolbars and install new.

Can not get internet connections

First try to reboot your router ... just unplug it for about 30 seconds and plug it back in. See if your router shows back up (assuming you are wireless) or if connected via a CAT5 cable your internet connection gets restored.

If that does not work ... sometimes its helpful to reboot your DSL/Cable modem. First unplug the router, then unplug the modem, after the modem come back up, plug the router in.

Hope these steps help.

Will connect to more than one cpmuter but no internet options

Hi,

It would seem that you posted twice....

My response to your other post:
On your post "WILL CONNECT TO WIRELESS BUT NO INTERNET OPTIONS" this would be a configuration/settings issue more to do with TCP/IP. Pls post back what modem and your ISP (provider).

On "ONLY ON LAPTOP WILL WORK AT A TIME", do you mean you would want to use the Internet on more than one computer? If yes, then you would need a router to share the internet connection.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
