- I am trying to connect an external monitor (TV) to my Dell laptop & am not clear if I did it correctly b/c the screen on ext monitor is on, but obviously not connected right to my D600. Iam using S-video port.

- I am using SCART adaptor to conect to the bac of the TV and S-video out from my Laptop (Dell D600)

- I did update the bios and the ATI drivers to the last available version from DELL home page, but my laptop still does not detect the external display as an additional display device.

- I have worked out a way to make it work.
On the desktop, right click and go to propertys. Once in there go to "settings" and then use the drop down list that has the monitor type in it.
Click on the 2nd one down so make ON Monitor 2. Once thats done, click "Extend Windows Desktop To This Monitor". Click OK.
Now the TV have a display, but only Black and White and no sound.
Its only good to watch movies on as it is not clear (movies are perfect) mouse and text are slightly blured. Just drag your media player over to the 2nd display (TV) and make full screen, now watch your movie. What about presentenshans, color picture and sound??? PLEASE HELP!!!!

It depends on the types of sockets you have on your PC - I guess SCART is the most common on the older TV's, but on newer LCD ones you will also find VGA inputs and HDMI.
I hope this helps you. If not, let me know what inputs you have on the back of your telly.

- On your laptop you need to update the bios before the tv-out port is enabled. Please see instructions below from Dell.

You have to press the Blue (Fn ) button on the bottom row of keys at the same time as (F8) function key at the top on Dell Latitdue laptops. You can toggle back & forth between laptop monitor only, TV monitor only or both monitors on at the same time. No need to install extra drivers unless something is broken.
