Audio Device not found

My audio device is not working suddenly. from control panel while trying to access the icon of sigmatel it was telling "Not Accessible" . So I uninstalled the driver and tried to install the driver again. But then I found the error "device object not found" . My OS in my computer is XP. When I got the problem I uninstall service pack 3 from my computer. But It did not help.

How do we repair the audio port of pc which has stopped working suddenly?

Check:-
1. The Stereo Mixer volume control is not turned down, under the speaker icon on the desktop, or via the sound icon in the control panel.
2. Under the sound icon the audio jack is not disabled or needs a driver to make it work. Both of these can be solved by running the device manager in Control panel.

I cant hear any sounds

I can. Tell your neighbors to hold it down.

OH, I'M JUST KIDDIN'!

(Must be my neighbors........."Hey.........you guys hold it down out there!" )

Suggest you download AND install the audio (Sound) drivers.

Driver: Small piece of software that allows the Operating System to communicate with a device

Device is the audio chipset.
Version of Windows operating system wasn't stated.

Dell Support > Latitude D530 Notebook PC > Main Support page,

http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/19/Product/latitude-d530

Click on the blue - Drivers & Downloads - tab.
(Product Support / System Configuration / Drivers & Downloads / etc

http://downloads.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/latitude-d530.html

Scroll down a little until you see the bold black subheading -
Audio - Driver

Look in the chart. There are 3 audio drivers listed.
You are only concerned with the top 2.
They both start with Sigmatel STAC 92xx.........

The top one is Version - 6.10.0.5614
The second one is Version - 5.10.0.5515

The top one is for Windows Vista. (32-bit or 64-bit)
The second one down is for Windows XP, or Windows 2000.
(And for Windows XP 64-bit)

You know which Windows version is on your computer.
Main thing is it Windows Vista, or Windows XP/Windows 2000.

That is the two choices.

Using Windows XP as an example;

Go to the right of Version 5.10.0.5515, and click on the Yellow folder icon to the Right. (Under Download heading, and has a Red arrow pointing down)

A small window will come up -
Opening R171789.exe
Click on - Save File - at the bottom.

A small download window will come up. Allow the file to fully download, then DOUBLE-click right on the file name.

To the Left in the next small window, click on - Extract all files
At the bottom of the next 3 small windows, click on -
Next, Next, and Finish.

(If it is different post back in a Comment)

Restart your computer if not asked to do so.

[Windows XP: Click on Start > Turn Off Computer > Restart.
Windows Vista: Click on the Windows logo button (Start), then on Shut Down ]

When Windows fully loads again, you may get a pop-up out of your system tray, "Found new hardware device".
And perhaps another one, "Found Sigmatel audio device".

The system tray is at the bottom of your monitor screen. To the right is the time, date, etc.
It also has the Volume icon. The icon is a speaker symbol.

IF, you do not have the Volume icon in your system tray;

Example using WinXP,

Click on Start, then on Control Panel.
In Control Panel click on - Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices
Then click on - Sounds and Audio Devices

In the small Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window, go to -Device volume - in the middle. (Blue)

Left-click in the empty small square box, to the left of -
Place volume icon in the taskbar.
(Puts a Green checkmark in the box)

Now go below in the window to the Right, and click on Apply.
Lastly go to the bottom Left, and click on OK.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

if your computer came with a motherboard disc the sound drivers could be on it
click start control panel administrive tools computer management device manager scroll to sound, video and game controllers you might see a yellow question mark? Right click to reinstall drivers
click start control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers make sure you have selected the
(((appropriate speakers))) also audio you will find 3 drop down lists make sure you have the correct settings there
also
click start control panel sounds and audio devices you can adjust the volume there also select speaker volume you can change your settings there you can also tick in the box place icon in taskbar
if his does not fix the problem

have you tried this control panel sounds and audio, volume, advanced, speakers select the appropriate speakers from the drop down list or navigate to the device manager scroll to system devices + to expand, system speaker right click properties then select use this device (enable) also you might check
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the sound card and the CPU central processing unit dust causes static to build up in a computer
hope this helps
you might have to get a portable usb sound card if you mean dont have a sound card installed

I have reinstalled Windows xp on my Laptop 6400 inspiron and now I have no audio. I have check Control Panel and it says no audio device is installed. I have tried to download Sigmatel from the Dell...

i believe the audio device for this model is located on the modem bus.
if you install the modem driver first then the machine should display the "found new hardware" wizard. DONT USE THIS.
ignore the wizard and proceed with the sound driver install then reboot the machine.
that should work providing you have installed the drivers in the correct order

No Audio ouptut device is installed

This may resolve your issue by updating your sound driver in device Mgr..
Follow these instructions.

To access Device Manager, go to Start vistastartmenu.jpg | Control Panel | System and Maintenance | System | Device Manager (Device Manager is located under "Tasks" in the left hand column of the "System" menu). A list of hardware will display. Here you will search for "Sound, video and game controllers", click on the (+) plus sign and a drop down menu will appear. One at a time, right click on each of these choices and select Update driver. When completed, restart your computer.

good luck
