Question about Washing Machines

We have problems opening the door sometimes.

The door opening button wont always work. how do we fix this issue?

    Thanks very much for your advice - it turned out that there was the casing from one side of a Swiss Army Knife caught in the filter! I removed this artifact with a screwdriver and then put the filter back in and went through the drain cycle which took about a minute then the door opened! Fantastic advice - thank you very much. Make sure there is no water left in m/c otherwise this prevents the door opening.
If ther is a filter, remove and clean.
If you still have trouble opening door ,then do the following.
On the lower left corner at the front of the m/c, you should see a red tab there, pull on this and door should open.
This should solve your problem.

I have an akira washing machine. problem is that when it comes to spin...E2 will appear. what is the problem n how to fix it? thank you.

E2 is a faulty button on your control board. Rub your hands over the buttons to make sure none of them are stuck and if you find nothing, try to unplug the unit for 60 seconds. If you continue to have issues, the control board will just need to be ordered and replaced to fix the issue. Here is also a link for the manual. Bosch washing machine classix 6 Stopped working. wont let me program it. A key symbol flashes on

I believe that the key symbool indicates that the machine cannot lock the door. Sometimes the result of a slightly sticking door interlock mechanism. Open the door and close it hard and firmly (slam it a bit, but don't get silly about it!). A good test to see if this is the problem is to attempt a program with the door swinging open. If the symptoms (flashing key) are the same, then the issue is almost certainly narrowed down to that door lock mechanism.

If this fails, unplug the machine from the main power source and leave it for 20 minutes to allow it to reset its self, then try again.

Hello, welcome to FixYa.

Based on your description specifically the door not unlocking combined with the unit not spinning adequately or as you stated "having trouble with getting spin cycle to spin out water" I'd suggest you check the pump filter and sub-components, i.e. back flow ball, drain hose etc.

Here's a link to my solution or explaination to guide you through checking these things. Typically this is associated with an error of F2, F21, or "suds" but not always.

As for unlocking the door, it's a good idea to get the water out first, but in any event to do so is as follows...

Once you remove the service panel at the bottom (as shown in my "repair tip") there is a manual latch release just below the lock latch assembly that you may be able to see visually or feel for by reaching up to the latch and pull the small "loop" below the lock...this is a image of what you'll be looking for.

I can't open the door of my whirlpool AWM 5080. I attempted to open it too early and now it won't open at all.

attempting to open it early wont do anything to it, your problem will be your door lock is faulty and the coil inside that heats up to lock the door isnt contracting after cooling meaning your door stays locked, try unplugging it from the wall for 5 mins then plug it back in u may get lucky and it will open but its not likely this will work but sometimes does, other than that u need to find a new door lock

Power button wont turn on or off not working but when you unplug it and plug back in the washer comes on. How do I fix this?

I am having same problem- power button will not operate at all. If I open the door and manually spin the drum with my hand, the machine will power up, just as if I pushed the power button. It will then wash your load without problem, but I really would like to have the power button work. Only had it two years so far!

Washing machine door wont open - hotpoint

Never reach inside the washing machine with it connected to the mains. The door interlock is always live.
There are several reasons why a Hotpoint door could be jammed shut.
•A broken door catch or door frame where the door catch screws in (they are rubbish on many Hotpoints - always breaking) you can sometimes get the door open if you push the door firmly in as you open it
•If there is water still inside the washing machine, then the door wont open either on these Hotpoint washing machines (not on some others though) If this is the case, when you try to open the door the ****** won't try to move down at all. You can open the door usually if you drain the machine. (only applicable with door interlocks that have a rubber pressure hose attached to them)
•A faulty door interlock
•The pressure chamber can be blocked on some earlier Hotpoint washing machines which gives the same effect as having water in the machine. Basically the washer "thinks" there is water in when there isn't. This would require the washing machine being stripped down to remove and clean the pressure chamber bottle. This cause is only applicable to washing machines where a small rubber hose is connected to the door interlock. This hose allows the door mechanism to be locked and unlocked by air pressure activated by water rising inside the pressure chamber bottle attached at the other end on the tub. Gunge can block the very small aperture where the pressure hose fits to the pressure chamber bottle.

HI, this is a Door Open Error.

Possible Causes are..-

* Door not all the way closed
* Loose electrical connections at door switch and pwb assembly(Control Board)
* Door switch assembly is out of order(Miss aligned)
* Gasket on door may be creased in

Most common issue here will be a defective door lock switch. check all causes before replacing the switch.

try unpluggin unit for 10 or 15 minutes sometimes a computer will lock up. If this doesnt fix it there is a tech sheet located behind the lower removable panel (3 screws down on your knees and look up a little between the door panel and lower panel. Tech sheet can help you with minor problems but be careful parts are expensive and non-refunadable (electrical parts). always disconnect power before working on unit
