Formatting C drive while retaining data on other drives or partitions still leaves you vulnerable. I recommend that you burn your data to dvd/cd and perform a clean install to be sure you have a healthy operating system. Before you do that run the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and the Windows Media Security updates:http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=ad724ae0-e72d-4f54-9ab3-75b8eb148356&displaylang=enhttp://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS08-076.mspx#top

Videos will not load. They will load about 1 to 2 inches on the bar and go no further sometimes a yellow line apears on the loading bar of a youtube video.

Assuming you are using Windows, I would refernce these items for the issue.....
Flash Player
Browser
Firewall
Media Player

Try to update bflash player.
If that does not work, try using a different browser.
Check that the firewall settings are not blocking the media content.
Try updating Media Player....or maybe download VLC to see if they open and play there. If they work there you may need codecs for media player.

Hope this helps...

No sound in my windows media player

If Windows Media Player is the only application that does not have sound, open the media player. Right click on the volume icon and open the volume mixer. Make sure that the sound is not muted for Windows Media Player. If it is, unmute it. If not, go to Microsoft's webiste and download a new copy of Windows Media Player. Run the installer and click repair installation. This should solve your problem.

Applications Closing Instantly

Yes, it sounds like a computer-virus.
Remove the disk-drive from your desktop computer,
and attach it as a "slave" disk-drive to some other desktop computer, and then run a full virus-scan.

Or, just follow "best practises":
* backup your data & music & E-mail & contacts,
* reinstall Windows from trusted media,
* run Windows Update a bunch of times,
* reinstall anti-virus software,
e.g., http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials
* reload your files.

  • Hi, I hope this will help you out. What seem to be the problem is that the Media Players hasn't been use for some time, and may need to be (both) " Upgraded and Updated," There is at least a "Service Pack 2" that you should have running. Do the following: Open the Start Menu window, scroll to find "Windows Updates," select to open; Scan / Check for (updates). This may take awhile, I think you will have quite a few updates, be Patience! "Did this solution help?"

What would cause Windows Media Player 11 to NOT display? It shows up in the taskbar, and audio is heard but it will not come up on the screen. No new programs have been loaded and I have done a complete...

This may happen as a result of having made a screen resolution change, especially from a large resolution to a smaller one. Other times, it's a glitch in the programming, though I haven't witnessed one in XP, Vista or better. Try switching to the highest resolution possible and set it. If you now see the Media Player window display, reduce its size to about half, and then reset the resolution to what it was before. Then close the Media player window and restart. It should open to the same exact size as the last time you used it.
Good luck!
