Hi,

IThanks to ButtWeasel at FixYourOwnPrinter for this well written step by step method to reset your printer)

Hopefully, this will reset your printer to factory defaults and get you back going again. It fixes just about everything in the MP series.

You will have to download the program MP Tool to fix this, but I'll list BW's instructions below. They didn't too much editing from me to make them too much more clear.

The MPTool is designed for service works with the printer Canon MP-Series when in Low-Level mode.

You will end up with two printers Ithe same printer) listed in Windows. Rename your current printer. Go to Start Menu, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes and right click your printer and select rename. Change the name to indicate it is Canon MP460-OLD. Now, proceed with the below.

It can be downloaded HERE:
(Click on the link "Click Here to Start Download" on the page link below)
http://www.mediafire.com/?3jvqf4e4py9

Download this to your desktop or move it there after its downloaded or just remember where it is so you can run this program when needed. WV

BEFORE activating MPTool...you need to do the following:

A: activate LOW LEVEL mode:

1. Unplug the power cord to the printer for a moment.

2. Then, hold down the on/off button while plugging in the power cord.
Keep holding the on/off button down.

3. Right away the green power light (in the button) will turn on solid.
Keep holding the on/off button down.

4. Press and release the Stop/Reset button.
(the button with a red triangle in a red circle)

5. Now you can release the on/off putton.

The green power light will go off and the yellow Alarm light will stay on.

B: Now you can run MPTOOL and resetting the Printer Memory and ink counters will reset.

When you connect your printer you will find you have two printers listed now in your Printers/Fax folder. Rename them so you know which is which when you go to print. Print a test page from each to discriminate from one or the other.

If this does not fix your problem then you need to have a part replaced. Only a qualified tech can do this, not your neighborhood guru most likely. You'll have to find someon who has a reputation you can count on and don't be afraid to insist on a workmanship warranty. None of us is afraid to do this because we know what we are doing. Mine is "No questions asked". If they won't warranty their work, don't use them.

Best of regards and thanks for using FixYa,
Worldvet

I think one of fuses in power supply blown off, that's why system control and LCD circuits are not working and you see blank LCD screen.
A near by tech person can apart printer and diagnose open / blown fuse and its cause.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Sorry yes, the printer would need repair work. The color screen is used to preview pictures using the memory slots on the front of the printer. Think of it as similar in operations to the screen of a digital camera and the operation and electronics involve would be the same.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy Holidays.

Please check if the ink cartridges have been fixed properly. I will suggest you to do this again. Also check if you have removed the thin protective tape which is placed on the ink pad before fixing the ink cartridge. If it does not solve your problem, reload the software on the computer and then try printing.

When I send a job to my printer, it prints out a blank page. Why?I have a Canon MP460 printer

Print a test page using the menu controls. If that comes out blank the chances are either the cartridges are empty or the nozzless are clogged. If so clean them with the pink fluid you get with refill kits, or use the cleaning setting of your printer.

Printer isprinting blank pages

Maybe your mp 460 printer is doing the same thing mine is. My problem is that when I try to print from the computer, the printer wants to copy instead, so a blank page comes out. I don't have a solution suggested yet. Jayceedee
