TV is five and a half years old. Fortnight ago the sound went off for a while and unable to adjust volume with handset or manually on TV when it returns until a period of time later. It has started doing it more frequently this week and the whole TV switched off the other day, then came back on again straight away. Is this problem worth getting repaired ? Thankyou

open the cover of your tv look for the sound IF using a plastic precesion screw driver adjust the IF counter clock wise slowly untill you reach a good sound or clockwise...if nothong happen solder a 0.2 ceramic capacitor to your sound IF at the coil of the IF under the board the IF has two terminals for the coil.sound if is located near the tuner section..there are two IF the video I.F and sound I.F
I have the same problem with KV-20-FV-300. My remote stopped working and when I adjusted the volume manually, it goes to high and when it adjust it back down, it goes high again. I'm able to get the sound to stabilize by getting the volume to where I want it, and then pushing the up and down volume buttons at the same time. I'm still searching for a permanant solution though.
Use the satellite receiver remote control to adjust the volume first. The receiver itself offers volume control and you probably have that turned down. Then you are trying to raise it with the volume control on the TV. This is raising the TV volume, but there isn't much sound there in the first place. Use the receiver remote, and you will probably see a volume bar. At some point it might say something like "best stereo" or a star might appear. If that happens leave the volume set there, otherwise just raise it all the way. Then control the volume with the TV remote, or program the DirecTV remote for your brand of TV, and the volume button should control the TV then.
I am having same problem on 32 inch same problem. After playing with board with no results,I tried front buttons and found that if I held the power button in ever so slighItly as not to turn it off, it fixed problem which is the micro on/off switch, I removed the switch and used the remote and everything is back to normal, I am about to insall a used micro switch after I finish typing this but I am sure this will clear up volume problen and menu going crazy problem if not I will just leave micro switch out and use the remote, and I will get back to this board only if that micro switch still causes the problem, so if I don't post in next hour the problem is fixed and I'm more than glad to help.
Some dust in the button to lower the volume on your TV or on your remote control might be causing it to think it's being pressed. Try playing around with it, pressing it hard so as to relieve it of any pressure on the inside.
