Lints filter at kenmore 500 washing machine

I can not find the lints filter at my kenmore 500 top loaded washing machine. The problem is that all the lints from some clothes are remaining in the washing machine and also at the other clothes. I know that it should be some kind of filter that I could remove and clean. Thank you!

SOURCE: Clothing stuck on agitator with top loading washing machine

Dear Whitworth,

please rate this solution if it meets ur needs, else choose fixya...

The agitator's movement back and forth is important for the cleaning of your laundry. If it doesn't function properly, your clothes won't be as clean as possible. If your agitator does not move, moves only in one direction or its movement is very weak, you will probably need to remove the agitator. Furthermore, in order to inspect the tub for leaks, the clutch assembly, the splines, or to remove the spin drum, you will have to remove the agitator.

The agitator is fastened to the agitator shaft and its movement is driven either by splines or a simple clutch assembly. The splines are usually plastic or rubber nubs on a cylinder that fits over the agitator shaft. If the nubs wear down, the shaft will not turn properly or it will turn weakly. If the agitator is moving in only one direction, the likely cause is the clutch assembly. The clutch has dogs that depress and pop up with each turn. If those dogs are worn, they will not engage properly and the agitator will turn only in one direction.
Various makes and models differ in how the agitator is removed. In some newer models, the agitator just lifts straight up and out. However, in most models you will have to do some combination of the following steps. First remove the fabric softener dispenser, if any. It should either lift or screw off. Next remove the cap. It may lift off, screw off or failing that, it may need to be pried off.
Beneath the cap some agitators are secured in place by a bolt. Use a socket wrench with an extension to remove that bolt. Some Maytags may have a screw near to the bottom of the agitator post that must be removed. Now try to lift the agitator straight up, possibly with a little back and forth rocking motion. Use caution when pulling, the agitator may come loose suddenly and hit you in the face or send you flying backward.
If the agitator is particularly stubborn, you can loop some rope under one side of the agitator at the bottom and then up over a broom handle. Now loop it again under the other side of the agitator and back up to the broom. Brace one end of the broom handle against the top of the washer and lift up on the other end. Double check that you have removed anything that may be securing the agitator in place. Do not use too much force or you may damage the washer cabinet, agitator or injure yourself.

SOURCE: Blocked filter in Fisher & Paykel washing machine top loader

Fisher & Paykel washers do not have lint filters inside the tubs as they are designed to drain away any debris from the wash during the drain cycle.

SOURCE: washing machine lint trap

There is no trap per say. The lint catcher is self cleaning when the water is pumped out. It sounds like you are overloading it and the clothes are hitting the agitator. Operation should be agitation by water movement not beat by the plastic fins, run a wash cycle hot water no clothes to flush things out and try smaller loads.

I wash all my darks together. No fuzzy stuff either with the black items. Don't overload as I am only person doing laundry. Why the lint left on the clothes. Kenmore Elite Series 600. Please help.

Your Kenmore washer does not have a lint filter. Washers manufactured today and in the past few years are not designed with lint filters. The engineers rely on the dryer to remove any lint left on the clothes that doesn't get flushed down the drain.

overload the washer? The wash load must be balanced and not overloaded. Clothes should move freely.

Lint can be trapped in the load if overloaded. Wash smaller loads.

Use the correct water level? The water level should be correct for the load size. Clothes should move freely in the water.
Alsp liquid detergent works better in cold water and has modifiers to keep lint in the water not on the cloths.

Do you line dry your clothing? If so, you can expect some lint on the clothing.

Check the following too

Was paper or tissue left in the pockets?

Use the proper cycle time for the load? Reducing wash time (duration) is another way to reduce lint.

these should help in reducing the amount of lint left on your clothes.
Thank the wonderful engineers for this problem.
There is one other thing you can do. Micro fiber cloths attract lint like nothing else. Inexpensive ones added to a wash load will catch almost all the lint.
found this out the hard way by trying to clean some that I used in auto body seminars for removing polish and waxes when doing detailing demos. they came out full of lint when washed in a mixed load,..looked worse than they did dirty. well sort of..they were still good for what i wanted them to do but looked like heck. :) if rewashed alone they cleaned up.
hope I helped a little.

My Kenmore 22642 washer is leaving lint all over the clothes. If i run them through the dryer, that will remove the lint... but some of my clothes don't go through the dryer. I can't seem to determine if...

Wash clothes separately whites and light colors together. Darks with liquid detergent. No lint filter on the machine. I have found some powder detergents do not dissolve completely.

Prblems with Kemore washer

Clean your washing machine before your next wash load to be sure there is no lint trapped anywhere in the machine. Fill the tub about half full of water then add a couple of cups of white vinegar to the wash water. Allow it to agitate and then sit there and soak for at least an hour before you empty the machine.
Lint is small fibers from clothing that have come loose from natural wear or laundering. They can build up in washers and wreak havoc on your clothing. The dryer will remove the lint. But with clothing, like dress shirts that are air-dried, this can be a real problem; often requiring multiple washings to remove the lint. Older washers came standard with removable lint traps that could be cleaned. Some would filter the water as it recycled through the washer, while others would require the removal of the center tub support for cleaning.
Newer washers have a self cleaning system that uses a filter to trap the lint and the spin cycle to flush it away. It saves the inconvenience of having to manually clean the filter.
If you have a lint problem, here are a few tips to try:
1) Low water pressure can impede the flushing action of the washer during the spin cycle. Look for pressure variations during filling of both hot and cold water. A kinked or blocked hose can cause this. Check for sediment in the hose as well.
2) Verify that the all of the water is being pumped out of tub and that no restriction in the drain hose exists.
3) Don't wash high lint producing items like socks and towels with your dress shirts.
4) Use a name brand detergent. They have higher quality cleaners and soften the water better, which helps release the bond between lint and clothing, allowing it be flushed away.
5) Don't overload the washer. Your washer needs water and room to remove the lint.
6) Run a wash cycle with a cup of regular white vinegar added. This will help rid your washer of any accumulated lint.
A washer doesn't produce enough lint to have any effect on a septic system, so a separate washer filter is not necessary.

Add a cup of either white or cider vinegar to your washing machine along with the detergent before loading in your clothes to keep lint off.

Sort out all towels and washcloths since they create lint. Put them through a separate wash cycle to keep them from transferring lint to your clothes.

Check the labels on all your clothing to be sure you sort them correctly. Cotton clothing produces lint in the washing machine while polyester clothing picks it up. Wash them at different times to keep the lint off those that are likely to pick it up.

Turn your clothes inside out before putting them into the washing machine to keep them from collecting lint as they go through the wash cycle

Dog hair remains on clothes/blankets after washing

if you want suggested answers you have to provide make, model and type of washer ( top/or front load )
if it is a westinghouse , simpson, hoover or like make top loader , there is a lint catcher bag at the end of the center spindle cover that you simply pull up and unclip and turn inside out to clean
Soe put the detergent in that cover for the washing

Sears top load / direct drive washers don't have specific Lint Filters.

See the Use and Care manual for these washers for hints.

Lint on clothes

The lint filter should be in the agitator. Pull the softener dispenser off the top of the agitator and check for a filter. You might even find that the agitator shaft is very dirty. Put through a warm wash with a solution of 1 cup vinegar to one cup bicarbonate of soda and let it go through complete wash. This should solve the problem.
