Webcam will not install

I bought a webcam and successfully installed the program for it on my home computer but I can not get the camera to actually work. When I plug it into my usb port and click on properties it says it cannot start code 10. I was able to get it to work on my lap top which has windows xp and so does my home computer. It keeps saying on the webcam program that the pc camera is not connected. the usb port does work because I can plug in other things that work. I do not know why I can not get the camera to work. I tried to trouble shoot and nothing I did would fix it.

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.

Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.

A. Skype Setup:

After downloading and installing Skype (http://www.skype.com/intl/en-gb/download/skype/windows/beta/downloading/ ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Tools, then Options, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if Installed Properly will come up and show a video picture.
  4. Then, on the bottom of the page click on Save.

The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now be able to see and her to you.

B. Yahoo Setup:

After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger (http://www.soft32.com/download_30.html ) set it up as follows:

  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.

C. Windows Live Messenger:

  1. After you start Windows Live Messenger, expand the view by clicking on the square on top left next to the red X.
  2. Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click on “Show the Menu Bar”.
  3. Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on “ “Action.”
  4. Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting” and follow the instructions.
NOTE: Your audio and video should work. Enjoy.

When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.

Driver is not supporting my window 7 basic home

The camera itself actually supports Windows 7. What exactly does it say when you are installing the driver?

It's possible that the drivers are not installed correctly, if at all.

Go to this page and download the drivers, take not of the installation instructions on that page as it keeps referring to a "mouse" when it's actually referring to "webcam".

I went ahead and marked them:
rictutero_14.jpg

If you're not sure how to UN-install the original drivers as indicated above, go to Start --> Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs.

In the new window, wait for the list to become populated and look for anything that has "A4tech Webcam" on it; click on it and click "uninstall" near the top of the list

If it asks you to restart the computer, do so.
If it has more than ONE entry that points to the A4tech Webcam, remove them all by repeating the uninstall process above.

Once all that's done, you can proceed to installing the drivers you just downloaded.

If it still does not work, try the webcam on a different USB port. If the problem persists, test the camera on a diffeent computer to further isolate the cause of the malfunction; if it still fails on a different computer, it could be that the camera is faulty and will have to be replaced.

1. Your Skype setup should have selector to let you use the camera indepenently but the Logitech camera utility will have to be disabled or the program exited.
Remove the Logitech camera from the " startup group in the start up window in the startup folder in the program files. this should stop the Logitech program from loading and give the Skype program access to the camera.
