The letters ie appear on the display indicating no water. I have checked the inlet soleniod and it works ok. There is continuity in the wiring with a check done by the multimeter. There is no power to the inlet soleniod with the diswasher turned on. Does this mean the problem is in the computer panel. Do I replace it?
IE is a INLET ERROR. Possible causes ¥ The Water Tap not opened. ¥ The Inlet Hose is kinked. ¥ The Filter of inlet valve clogged by impure water. ¥ The Inlet Water Valve is normal ? ¥ The water pressure is very low. ( below 0.3 kgf/ ) Possible solutions ¥ Open the Water Tap. ¥ Repair the Inlet Hose. ¥ a) Close the Water Tap. b) Unscrew the Inlet Hose (Inlet Valve side) c) Clean the Filter of Inlet Valve. ¥ Replace or repair the Inlet Valve.
From reading around the net I have found there is support available to replace the PCB board that controls the dishwashers functions. Apparently they have failed so many there is a tech bulletin out for them and LG will replace them for free on this model in Australia. I have just sent off my request so see how that goes.
On the salt container , there is a sensor (small black) this sensor checks the water level clean out the container by removing it from the bottom with cold running water replace sensor .this should solve your problem
Hi Guys, This is one of the many solutions for that E1 but if you say intermittend then this is probably your solution. The drain pipe is ending 2 low. It shoul have about 30cm clearance from the ground otherwise your water will drain out while it is filling. Do this test. Put your drain pipe at the same hight and catch the water in a bucket. You will notice that the water never stops draining especially if there is water left in the pipes from the previous wash. (Your machine is causing a fault by draining when it shouldn't. Think about the method you use to take Gasoline out of your cars tank with a pipe.) Good luck and happy dish washing.

The Water Tap is not opened.
The Inlet Hose is twisted.
The Filter of inlet valve clogged by impure water.
The Inlet Water Valve is normal ?
The water pressure is very low. ( below 0.5 kgf/ )
Inlet valve is blocked by safety device for leakage sensing.(In case of Inlet Valve).
Open the Water Tap.
Repair the Inlet Hose.
1.Close the Water Tap. 2.Unscrew the Inlet Hose (Inlet Valve side) 3.Clean the Filter of Inlet Valve. > Replace or repair the Inlet Valve. > Check the water remain on the base. 1.Check the point of damages and repair or replace the related parts. 2.Disconnect the inlet hose to dishwasher to unlock the safety valve. Check the applied voltage.
ERROR DISPLAY [ F E ] Excess error. Condition: Excessive water is supplied than normal water level.(Automatically drain Pump operated.). Possible causes:
The IE error you are seeing means Inlet Error, this shows because your dishwasher is not getting
enough water through in a specific time frame - Please check the following:
- Is the Inlet hose kinked in any way? (This could lead to low water pressure to the solenoid) Straighten it. - Is the Inlet hose filter (Found when unscrewing the hose form the inlet on the machine) dirty? Clean it. - Is the tap completely open? (Low pressure) - Has your home gone under any plumbing alterations? (This could have also caused low water pressure - Too little water)
all of these come back OK, and it still gives the same problem, I'd
suggest replacing the inlet valve (Found on the opposite side of the
inlet pipe - inside your Dishwasher), could also be a pressure switch
(Found at the bottom of your Dishwasher - accessible from the bottom).
This should solve any problems.
Kind Regards :-) Jedemeyer1

The IE is telling you it is not getting enough water. Could be your water pressure is low. Check to make sure the there is not a build up of grime, or calcium deposits in the water hose, and at the valve.
The other thing is if your unit is an older one, prior to mar 07, you may have broken wires in the door. Remove the door panel and look for any wires that are stuck in the insulation. The sensor wires are thin and gray in colour. Splice the wires and put some of the white insulation in between the wires and the door so it cannot happen again.
Broken wires can be hard to find if the break is not all the way through.
