Ensure the new battery is the correct voltage and inserted properly (+ side is usually down). Check the manual for a jumper on the board used to clear the CMOS. With the pc unplugged from A/C power (the wall socket), short the jumper to clear the CMOS. You can put a jumper on for about 60 seconds, or hold a conductive material (the tips of most screwdrivers are ideal) across the two pins, again for about 1 minute. Be very careful not to touch or scratch the motherboard or any of the metal traces in it if you choose to use a screwdriver or other tool than a jumper. Jumpers can be easily moved by pushing a toothpick firmly into the hole in the center, then lifting straight up. When replacing, holding the toothpick, push the jumper into place, then twist the toothpick gently while pulling up to remove the toothpick without removing the jumper. A jumper is a small piece of plastic with a wire inside that connects (usually) two pins together. After clearing the CMOS, you will need to put the jumper back where you got it since you'll likely have to pull one off of the board, short the CMOS, then replace the jumper to it's original location -

How can i reset acer travel mate 310 bios password_?

On the newer laptops I've serviced there is no BIOS reset and pulling the CMOS battery does nothing. I've seen some with what looks similar to solder pads labeled as CMOS reset, but they won't work in most cases.
My suggestion, try the password three times, and a dialog box should pop up with a code. Punch in the code to unlock the bios here

Tip

How to replace the CMOS battery in an Acer Aspire laptop.

General info
All laptops have a CMOS battery. The main purpose for the CMOS battery is to store the system time, date and BIOS settings even if the computer is turned off or the main battery dies. Individual Acer Aspire laptop models differ somewhat, but the general steps are the same when replacing a dead CMOS battery.

Before you start
1) Read through the owner's manual for your particular Acer Aspire laptop to determine what kind of CMOS battery you need.
2) Purchase the battery through Acer or a local or online computer parts dealer.
3) Turn the laptop off and unplug it. Also unplug any external hard drives, cameras, or other external devices.
4) Turn the laptop over (bottom facing up), then touch something metal to remove static charge.

Removal of the CMOS battery
Remove the Phillips screws that secure the motherboard cover (refer to your owner's manual if necessary), then release the cover from the clips on the bottom of the plastic casing. Lay the cover aside then locate the CMOS battery cable on the right side of the motherboard. Unplug the cable then remove the battery.

The battery should look something like this

slasher_x_2.gif
Plugging the new battery in
Plug the new CMOS battery cable into the motherboard. Slide the battery partially under the laptop casing (somewhere to hold it in place), then align the cover with the slots on the bottom of the laptop housing. Replace the screws then turn the laptop back over.

Finalizing
1) Turn the laptop on.
2)Enter your BIOS (usually by pressing the "Delete" key) before the operating system loads.
3) Follow the BIOS prompts or refer to your Acer Aspire owner's manual to reset your time, date and desired system settings.

Reason: Anytime the CMOS battery is unplugged for more than a few seconds your BIOS will be reset to the default manufacturer settings. If you make any changes to the BIOS that cause problems with your Acer Aspire, unplug the CMOS battery for 3 to 5 seconds to correct the problem.

Waar kan ik in mijn acer et1840 e machine computer de cmos batterij vinden

The CMOS battery is the small silver round battery on the motherboard. Be warned though, this will reset all of the time, date, and optimized settings in the BIOS. You will most likely need to reset all of that information.

My acer laptop computer with Vista operating system stop boothing and requested from me for Bios setup password

Hello,

Some people have reported that they were able to remove their Acer BIOS passwords by simply opening their notebooks and removing the CMOS batteries for 30 minutes.

Do it at your own risk and charge. I can't, obviously, say it works for you.

Acer extensa 4220 bios password

There's no way that we can determine the BIOS password of your laptop. But if you can disassemble your laptop and locate the CMOS battery you can remove the CMOS battery to reset the BIOS together with the password. After resetting the CMOS battery you will no longer be asked to enter a password for the BIOS when you turn on your computer. However, there are instances that even though you reset the CMOS it's still asking for the password, for this concern, the computer manufacturer should deal with this concern.

Bios password problem

Guide to remove BIOS password of Acer computer (Both Laptop & Desktop).

There are four ways to remove the BIOS password

1. Reset Password BIOS via Backdoor BIOS Password.
2. Reset Password BIOS via Software.
3. Reset Password BIOS via hardware.
4. Reset Password BIOS via default manufacturers.

You can contact acer support or search internet for Acer's default BIOS password and that would be real easy for you, But if you are comfortable enough to use Dos you can also try this method.

OK, here is my guide to Remove Acer Bios password computer via Software. This has been done on testing machine Laptop Acer Aspire 3620/ Travel Mate 2420. Anyway, I'm not sure it will work on every Acer PC/Laptop so just consider to do at your own risk, I’m not responsible for any damages caused by this guide.

As we know most of Acer computer (Laptop & Desktop) allow us to setup BIOS in Microsoft Windows (9x/XP/Vista) environment. Great, this is the powerful that help us to remove the BIOS password because all we know if we enter Setup Utility at the boot time we have only three times of filling the password and if all wrong then the system will halt. frown.gif

The program helps us to enter Acer BIOS setup in Microsoft Windows is “Acer eSettings Management” which comes with the CD when we buy Acer PC/Laptop. If you lost the CD then just come to Acer website to download the program.

Before you can install “Acer eSettings Management” you have to install program called: “Acer Empowering Technology” so you’d better to download both of them from Acer website and install & restart your computer to be ready for the job. Here is the link of Acer website, just come there and sellect right series/model of your computer to download these programs:

Code: ftp://ftp.support.acer-euro.com or

Code: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com
Another one program is also very important we will need called: “CmosPwd” - CmosPwd is a cmos/bios password recovery tool. CmosPwd is under GNU Public License. You can freely distribute it. It can be compiled under Dos, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD and NetBSD.

Download it here:

Code: http://www.cgsecurity.org/cmospwd-5.0.zip Guide to install CmosPwd and remove password:

1. Download & extract to a folder. I put it in drive D like this: d:\ cmos
2. To work on cmos memory, ioperm need to be installed and running. ioperm gives direct port I/O access for specified ports to user-mode process (ring 3) using Ke386SetIoAccessMap and Ke386IoSetAccessProcess kernel functions.

Log on to Windows as Administrator priviledges and do as follow: (see picture):

a. Click Start-->Run: type CMD hit Enter on your keyboard.
b. now us the CD command of Dos to come to d:\cmos\windows. (here is: d: hit enter; cd cmos hit enter; cd windows hit enter).
c. when you are already in d:\cmos\windows in drive D then: type “ioperm.exe –i” hit enter.
d. to start ioperm service: type “net start ioperm” hit enter.
e. ok, type: “Cmospwd_win.exe /k” hit enter, we will see:

1 - Kill cmos
2 - Kill cmos (try to keep date and time)
0 - Abort
Choice :

Type 1 and hit Enter to clear cmos.

f. run the Acer eSettings Management program: start-->program-->Acer Empower Technology-->Acer eSettings Management.

37400896td6.jpg

g. now come to the: Bios Password to see: if you still see password enable, that means we fail but if we see they are Disable so we are done. Remember if we success remove password then we have to create a password for it and then remove it and click Apply to save to cmos memory. This is very important because sometimes we see it Disable but when reboot the computer they are Enable again cuz the password is still in the CMOS.

That’s all, good luck & don’t forget to set an easy password later.
